| Pixie has meningoencephalitis Hi..anyone have any miracles with meningencephalitis? Our Pixie was diagnosed 2/8/2011 at Akron Metro Vet Hospital by MRI and spinal tap. She had a couple grand mal seizures at the hospital and then that decreased to only "fly biting" where she would chomp at the air. We bought her home 2/9/2011 in the evening, she had a few fly biting episodes the next day and then other than a vomiting a few times, she has been totally fine. The vet said yorkies are prone to the necrotizing type of encephalitis and the only way to tell if its that is if she gets worse...seizures, etc. But..she's alert, eats, drinks, pottys and barks like she normally would. She is on cyclosporine, keppra, clindamycin, doxycycline, prednisone and prilosec. We give her meds to her right on schedule. She's very loved! The vet said she has a 30 % chance of recovery. It sure seems like she is doing so well. PLEASE...IF ANYONE HAS ANY INPUT OR KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TERRIBLE ILLNESS PLEASE RESPOND. Thanks! Mitzi and Pixie |

| Your vet should consider a consult with dr Allen sisson at the MSPCA Angell memorial hospital in Boston as he is an expert on encephalitis and has a successful protocol for treatment.

| Yes Teddy is a patient of Dr Sisson but not for encephalitis (Teddy has epilepsy). I have read many times on here that Dr Sisson is very successful with encephalitis dogs, particularly those with GME and NME. Maybe someone on the encephalitis groups can give you more detailed information about that. Your vet may already know about this but it's worth asking about for sure in my view. Best wishes.

| I will say prayers for your little Pixie. Yorkie Haven has a pup with GME. Her name is Roriee. You might want to read her story. She has done well with treatment.
