Hi..anyone have any miracles with meningencephalitis? Our Pixie was diagnosed 2/8/2011 at Akron Metro Vet Hospital by MRI and spinal tap. She had a couple grand mal seizures at the hospital and then that decreased to only "fly biting" where she would chomp at the air. We bought her home 2/9/2011 in the evening, she had a few fly biting episodes the next day and then other than a vomiting a few times, she has been totally fine. The vet said yorkies are prone to the necrotizing type of encephalitis and the only way to tell if its that is if she gets worse...seizures, etc. But..she's alert, eats, drinks, pottys and barks like she normally would. She is on cyclosporine, keppra, clindamycin, doxycycline, prednisone and prilosec. We give her meds to her right on schedule. She's very loved! The vet said she has a 30 % chance of recovery. It sure seems like she is doing so well. PLEASE...IF ANYONE HAS ANY INPUT OR KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TERRIBLE ILLNESS PLEASE RESPOND. Thanks! Mitzi and Pixie
