| Two issues: Diarrhea / Stress OK, the short background is that I rushed Maddie to vet yesterday b/c of her eye didn't look right. She does have the beginning of an infection. It wasn't bad but they recommended that we use a cone (which is completely stressing her out) to keep her from scratching at it and gave us some drops. Since we were in there, and her shots were due to in weeks (first of December), we went ahead and saved a trip and got that done. Long story is that she is extremely timid based on her first life with a not so great family. We coddle her probably more than we should (or in her opinion not enough) because of this. The vet always stresses her out in the first place which I why I decided to just do it. Since the visit she: 1. has not been loving the cone. In fact, I am having to hand feed her kibble to her and hold a small cup of water for her to get her to eat/drink at all. 2. today she has started having diarrhea I am torn between yanking this collar off AND/OR marching back to the vet. I assume stress can cause diarrhea b/c stress causes all kinds of problems for me personally. But worry is it stress causing it; a reaction from her shots -- I believe everything is the same that she always gets, right? She is 1-1/2 yrs old. We've had her since last December. And really other than her emotional issues has been healthy with just this little eye thing now. Am I a worry wart and should give her a little more time to let things settle? <<<sigh>>> And of course I always think the same thing as I did when my kids were tiny and I had to take them to the pediatrician... probably coming home with more germs then we went in with Peggy, Monkey & Maddie

| It could be frpm stress if she is that timid. You could feed her a little canned pumpkin for the diahrea but also since shes been under vet care I would let them know she has the diahrea. I dont know what to tell you about the cone. I would tell you to take it off but you dont want her eye getting worse and it maybe affecting her eyesight. Maybe your vet will have some ideas

| Check this out. I had a very good friend tell me to try this. She uses grated coconut. Coconut Eases Diarrhea in Dogs Home Remedy - The People's Pharmacy® |

| It might be from being upset with the eye and cone and then the shots, too. It would be impossible to say. I hope you can get the diahhrea under control quickly. The pumpkin should help. Let us know how your lil one gets along.

| I am hoping she didn't get 'all' her shots at one time. Also shouldn't have been given... never vaccinate a pup that is compromised by illness or injury.... or if they are running a fever. That said, stress can cause diarrhea, as can vaccines. You may want to try taking the collar off while you're right there with her and allow her to eat... under supervision only. Replace the collar when she's done. You don't want her to cause more damage to the eye. She can also pick up on your stress over the whole situation... so I suggest that you remain very calm around her. It should all be over in a week or two....
