				   | I am so sorry about Sparkles. We found out Rockybear had Kidney disease in August. We feed him KD - HIlls Diet, Fluids twice a week. I also ordered Azodyl and put him on that about one month ago. He is doing great!!!! I also have him on phenobarbital for seizures. He also takes high blood pressure medicine along with a pepcid a day. His bun was around 90 about a month and a half ago. We are hoping the Azodyl helps. It cannot hurt to try. You would just never know he is sick. Lots of prayers. I know how you feel. It is heartbreaking!!! The quality of life is very important!!!! Keep me posted. Shirley |

				   | Have you tried a nephrologist? They may be able to offer more ideas. I also have heard only great things about Azodyl.

				   | My little guy Tiny began with loosing weight, vomiting and diarrhea. I took him to the vet which placed him on the Hills Perscription Diet. Also began him on vitamin drops. He doesn't like the food, still has diarrhea and nausea. He is 9 years old and is breaking my heart to see him go through this. I am a longtime Paramedic and deal with renal disease on a daily basis with patients. I am finding it hard dealing with this and seeing him go through this disease. |

				   | I am so sorry to hear about Tiny.... I know how hard this can be. My Sparkle is 9 too. I am a mother of three little yorkies an a mother of a 2 year old little boy and in my spare time I have researched and researched kidney disease in dogs many nights after my little boy goes to sleep. What I found and you can research it too--because my husband thought I was CRAZY when I told him--was that acupuncture really can help kindey disease. So I looked for a vet who did this and found VCA animal hospital in my area--they are wonderful and take a conventional/homeopathic approach. I do this in addition to my vet that Sparkle has gone too for years and she isn't too open to it but I have seen a world of difference. VCA animal hospitals have a website and are all over--check it out if you can. The accupuncture did amazing things for Sparkles nausea--the vet knew as soon as she examined her how upset her stomach by just pusing pressure points and I have seen a huge difference in her. The prescription med's my vet gave her for nausea didn't help. PLEASE give this a try--I am SO THANKFUL I did.... Also she put her on some homeopathic oils, a powder and Azodyl. Based on Tiny's situation and bloodwork, they will find something that can help. If you ever have any questions please reach out and good luck. Sparkle is eating Three Dog Bakery Gracie's Gourmet Meals and I add in some white rice that was mixed with unsalted butter. Diet is so important too. Milkbones aren't good for dogs with kidney diesease so we stopped them. Trying to give her all low protein natural treats and food. Thinking of you... Again, please research this for Tiny and don't lose hope.... Quote:

				   | Chelsea went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She had completely refused food for 3 days, and drank very little water, she was unstable when she stood up. It was her time, no more suffering due to renal failure and cardiac arrest. I did use the Mirtazapine and it did help, but then she refused anything I put the med in, ex. peanut butter, cheese, Pill Pockets, etc. My Vet was not aware of this mediciation for this use, but after researching it, he was very supportive of the use. We are very blessed to have another Yorkie, Lexi, who will help with our loss. Thank you to all that advised me during our crisis. |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry for your loss. I lost Dixie as a puppy to congenital kidney failure and the last few days were terrible. I knew when I held her in my arms for the last time that she was now free of sickness and running free and healthy.

				   | Losing Chelsea has been very sad, but we know we did the best we could for her and kept her comfortable the last few weeks of her life. She is now in a better place, thank you to all who have shared their support, concern and condolances. Yorkietalkers are the best! Lexi, our 9 lb Yorkie is not a new puppy, we have had her since August 4, 2010, she is 2 years old, and very active. She is a rescued Yorkie, now in her forever home. She fills our day with comedy, and laughter to ease the pain of our loss. Lexi LOVES to play...ALL DAY, and we have to put away her stuffie toys at night, or we wake up to a furry face in our face with a stuffie in her mouth. ![]() A day without a Yorkie is a day without sunshine! |
