They need to do a bile test on your dog. That's how they found out for us, if your dog's protein levels are low..have them do an ultrasound. We only paid 350 for Trixie, but 3 surgeries she had to have costed us around 6,000 dollars, and she ended up dying. IF your dog has liver shunt, please please please have its surgery asap. Don't wait. I think if we would've done Trixie's surgery sooner, she'd still be with us. But who knows. Good luck with your baby. I'll be praying for you! | |

| A simple xray may confirm hydrocephalus, which can be congenital, which may make the breeder responsible depending on your health guarantee and/or state regulations. There are drugs that are given to stop the excess production of cerebral spinal fluid and to remove the excess CSF from the brain/skull. A Spinal Tap and an MRI may be necessary to rule out GME, NME, AAI, and Syringomyelia.

| Stacyxxrenea....I am so sorry about your puppy I cannot imagine losing Jax....they did do bile acids on him and they were normal. He is still has not had any more symptoms to date (fingers crossed) so hopefully it will not happen again. I definitely will keep everyone posted.

Teaching Hospital I would at least get a second opinion... many vets are not that familiar with specific diseases that affect Yorkies... that's why you may do better seeing a specialist. Also, if your vet suggested hydrocephalus, but then didn't recommend further investigation... that would worry me. There are a few diseases that present with Hydrocephalus, they are AAI, GME, NME, Chiari, Syringomyelia and others. Spinal Taps and MRIs are nomally done to come to a specific diagnosis, as treatment varies for each. Keeping you all in my prayers...
