| Negative reaction to CT refilled meds, didn't happened with original prescription... Aminophylline is the med in question. Prince has taken it for a while, and tolerated it well. His reaction to his last refill is really strange...he would lay down, then quickly get up and turn around in circles as if to get comfortable, seemed very nervous, and would whine. He had never done this before. This happened last night, and the night before last. I'm not going to give him that med today, because I'm concerned that the vet assistant may have given him the wrong drug, or dosage. (Prince's vet was on vacation when I called to get a refill...I assume the other vet on staff handled the order.) Any feedback is truly appreciated!!!!!! I will be at the vet at 9a in the morning with the pills in hand!

| He has been wheezing for the last few days, but he is in good spirits. He also takes torbutrol daily and a steroid as needed, and I'm waiting for the torbutrol to kick in. Beachdog, thank you so much for your response and for asking about Prince!!!!

| They may have changed manufacturers? Or maybe the assistant got it wrong. I'd hold off also.

| I tried to pm you/leave you a message on your profile, but couldn't... I'm so sorry to hear about Paris! CT is so debilitating...so sad. How old is your baby? Is Paris a boy or girl, and how old is he/she? (I have several friends named Paris...2 female and 3 male.) What kind of medication is he/she taking? How old is your baby? I'm sure that Prince got CT after his dental almost two years ago.

| How is Paris feeling now? I would be so furious if the vet go his meds wrong. Thank goodness you are aware and pay attention to how Paris was reacting. That is very scary.

I'll follow up as soon as I get back from the vet's office. Hopefully, I won't end up on the local news.

| I found this on the drug in question: "Possible side effects include anxiety, nervousness and gastrointestinal problems. Aminophylline may interact with other medications. Consult your veterinarian to determine if other drugs your pet is receiving could interact with aminophylline. Such drugs include ketoconazole, rifampin, diuretics, calcium channel blockers, cimetidine, corticosteroids and ephedrine." It sounds like you were on track. I hope you get it worked out with your vet.

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | Paris was diagnosed in June, he is 10. He was on torbutrol but we switched to Hycodan syrup (much cheaper) and is doing fine. He still coughs when he gets up but not too bad. How is Prince doing and what did the vet say? |

| The pills are apparently the same as the original ones. The vet thinks that Prince just built up a sensitivity towards them. He put him on theophylline, which I will pick up tomorrow, because he didn't have any in stock. He said that he would give me four to try so I can see how Prince does on them, before buying. Does anyone use or have knowledge of theophylline? Meanwhile, I have almost 100 pills of aminophylline that Prince can't use, and of course the vet can't take them back. I was thinking about calling a shelter to see if they could use them for the dogs there. Thank you, everyone, for checking up on Prince!! (Sorry it took so long to follow up. I had to rush to work after I left the vet's office this morning.)
