I know if you saw something like this in a petstore you could call the department of health. You might try calling animal control or the humane society and see if they know about any puppy lemon laws. I also found this on a website: " Check your local area A.S.P.C.A. group, call your local animal shelter, and county health officials to complain. In some states, such as Texas, the SPCA works with the county law enforcement to go in and investigate kennels when abuse is reported. If during the investigation and inspection it is found that laws are being broken, then the kennel is shut down and homes are found for the animals and charges are brought against the kennel owners. MANY puppy mills and terrible facilities have been shut down using SPCA and county officials, but it has to start with a complaint! If someone doesn't speak up, then NOTHING gets done and the abuse continues." Did you go to the breeders house to get your puppy, or did she meet you somewhere? Also, did you notice the other animals, or handle any and did you notice any problems with their skin? Did she give you any vet records for the puppy? I assume the puppy had been checked by a vet at some point. If you have her vet's name, you might be able to verify whether her vet actually did tell her the puppy would only be contagious to other puppies. I can't believe the other puppies and adult dogs aren't suffering from this too. Plus, she is probably going to continue to sell the puppies to other people. You really need to find someone to report her to. I wish I could tell you exactly who that is. |
this is so frustrating i did go to her house...and i noticed a french bull dog with skin problems but she said it was from bad allergies...she has not given me her vets name but i gave her mine and she even admitted it was one of the best vets around...but i need to talk to her and ask her her vets name...i know this is gonna cause a big problem cause people can be mean. like i said before im just upset that she lied to me bout this. but shes still in denial..i will call her tomorrow and ask for her vets name...my vet even said for her to call him and he will tell her exactly what she told me. does anyone know how long it takes for akc papers to come in after they have been requested...cause she said she would mail them to me...but i was just wondering how long it takes? |

her hands if she is breeding dogs and selling them. I just don't think she is doing enough to treat the animals and prevent other households from getting ringworm. :thumbdown The AKC papers shouldn't take long at all. She can register the puppy online. She should have already done that, frankly, and given you the paperwork when you bought the puppy to transfer the registration to your name. How did you find this breeder, if you don't mind my asking? Is she responsible enough to offer to help with the vet bills you've incurred now because of this? |
im so upset with her she just keeps complaining about how when another lady came to see them when they were 3 weeks old..that the lady had ringworm and thats how the pup got it..although i was talking to another lady who breeds yorkies and she said that was most likely not it. I found this lady in the local newspaper..i should have known better.. Every time i talk to her she says her vet says that it will go away easily and its no big deal. But i was reading up on it and the article said that the spores can live up to 2 years...wooow!! Now my shih tzu is scratching and that worries me cause he has so much hair and wont sit entirely still for me to check and see if he has it, but most likely does. She more than likely will not pay for any of the vet bills, and has asked me to bring him back if i am not happy, and maybe i will get my money back. This is not about money though, he has already stolen a piece of my heart. There is no way i can give him back and let him keep suffering with her. when i went to her house it was clean and comfortable...but then there was this door closed off where i heard a few dogs barking and she said "oh thats just my girls" im guessing other females she had....i only got to see the mother also...and for a short time before she put her up somewhere.....and we were talking outside and she went inside for like 10 minutes and then allowed me inside her house. So that should have been a red flag. I know we can catch ringworm from the pup and so can my other dogs....but is it true that the pup could have caught it from a lady who had handled him when he was younger and she had ringworm? does that work the same? I'm at a complete loss here cause now he has to be quarantined for a while away from my other pets and he cries because he can hear them playing in the living room and wants to play also....i feel so bad for him, and this lady is just brushing it off like nothing. I have to disinfect constantly wherever he is and wash his bed and blanket and stuff every day in really hot water with bleach. I was also told by the vet to use something called nu-stock? I already got it and its a yellow paste type thing cause they couldnt give him the liquid stuff since it is right around his eye and eyelid.....worst case scenario what could happen to his eye? |
I was reading through lots of interesting threads today and came across this one that may be of interest to you. Just thought I'd share. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...very-long.html |
I'm sorry you and your new baby are going through this. I myself have no expereince with ringworm, so I can't offer any advice. I do however want to chime in about the AKC papers. Your breeder should have handed you the papers as soon as you bought the puppy. Then YOU have to register the dog with AKC...the breeder simply registers the litter. You should not have to wait for your puppy's paper. |
