| puppy cough Hi everyone here at yorkietalk, its a pleasure to be a part of a community which shares the same passion towards our furry little friends i just had a few things i wanted to ask, to maybe get some reassuring answers from the more knowledgable yorkie owners. recently i purchased a new friend for the family, i played with him for hours at the breeders house to make sure everything was okay with him. he was so energetic, active, playful, loving, and showed zero signs of any health issues. the more we played, the more i fell in love. i went ahead and got the little guy and brought him home. the next day, all still seems well. i took him on a few rides around town to get him comfortable with his new family. played with him here n there just to get acquainted and what not. all still seeming well. that second night, i noticed a slight huffing cough as he starts to relax n settle down. after a few huff's he goes to sleep. the next day i brought him into a vet just in case. doctor said she thinks he has "kennel cough" and gives us some anti-biotics and some cough suppressant. the cough syrup really does help relieve him of the cough when things get a bit worse, but i haven't really noticed much clearup over the past 7 days. i feel like i might be over worrying a bit, but im just worried as he's only about 11 weeks right now. the cough only seems to happen when he's relaxing or attempting to settle down for a rest. when he's out n about he's fine. no coughs or anything. super playful, doesn't seem over exhausted or tired all the time. very very active. health wise he seems beyond healthy, but his cough just scares me. doc says if he doesn't really get any better by monday which would be about 10 days from the start, we should bring him back in for another checkup to see what else it might be. i don't see it getting worse at all, but i don't exactly see it getting any better. any words of reassurance? or any suggestions i can do to help my little guy? we run a vaporizer every night with vicks solution in it antibiotics morning, and night. cough syrup straight from his vet, givin before he goes to bed since i notice that time to be the worse. anything else you guys can recommend? anything im not doing that i should? thanks for the help everyone! |
