| Daisy is losing her nose hair I posted this in the wrong spot so I'm starting this thread here. Daisy has severe allergies and we had her on Neoral (atopica) solution for a couple of years with excellent results. After a diet change, she was weaned off neoral and was doing so excellently that it just hasnt been needed for about 4 months now. This week, I noticed her nose hair thinning just above the black button part of the nose. I figured maybe she rubbed it or something. I've been She also seems very hungry - she is growling at me at night and is really watching her closely and I don't see her scratching or biting at her paws. unstoppable. I have been giving her a little extra food but she's an ideal weight (7.8 lbs) for her frame. I'm not sure about next steps - dermatologist? Or am I better off doing regular internist to see what's going on? her bloodwork was recently done and is perfect. Thanks for any help, here is a picture.

| Poor baby... our Maggie is on Atopica too with good results but had some itching issues lately. The fleas are very pesky this year and after I gave her Comfortis instead of Frontline the itching stopped. Did the Vet check for any mites? It looks almost like that... I hope and pray that you find the solution soon b/c I know how disturbing and hurtful it is if you can't help your baby! |

| Crystal (Ellie May) posted a thread a couple of months ago with similar sounding issue. You might pm Crystal and see what she found out with Ellie May's hair loss on her nose. How recently was her bloodwork done?

| Hmmm, so not thinking it's allergies/yeast? I never got an answer. Biopsy, skin scraping, and fungal culture were all normal. No testing for thyroid and cushings b/c vet thought it was unnecessary. But Ellie doesn't look like a doggie with those types of problems. Anyway, I was told it would be okay to hold off on the testing that we did, but I wanted an answer. Well, we got no answer from them, but it started growing back. Enzymes seemed to help, but can't be sure. Thinking she may have had some protein malnutrition or something going on (not absorbing it right).

| Poor Daisy! I hope you can find out what to do. I think a visit to the Dermatologist is an excellent idea. Hugs to Daisy.

| Daisy update Quote:
This is definitely her atopic dermatitis - we're going back on Atopica to see if the nose hair grows back.
