Thanks for the info. I wasnt sure how exactly it worked. I assumed it stayed in the dogs system until the next month.

Thinking a lot about you and little Max today. I really hope LSU will have answers and come to a concrete diagnoses . Glad the BAT tests came back normal, yet it is the not knowing part that I think is the most difficult.

Sentinel kills the larvae before it enters the infectious stage. According to the Novartis website, it is out of the system in two days:

Sentinel is 100% absorbed 3 hours after the first dose, killing infective microfilarie, and interrupting the adult flea life cycle at the egg and larval stage. It is cleared from the pet's system in about 2 days.

Just got home. Initial exam all is normal. The team watched the youtube videos and said it's classic signs of head bobbing as well as focal seizures commonly associated with most yorkie diseases. However this is a rare case as there are no additional symptoms.

Max is in ICU being watched after.

LSU is:

1. repeating the bile acid test
1. Opthalmologic Exam
3. Brain MRI
4. Cerebrospinal fluid tap

They are testing for:
metabolic disease
congenital neurological disease
infections active/residual disease

Even after this $1500 in testing they may still have no idea what's wrong. Max is getting his MRI tomorrow at 11am assuming 1 and 2 come back normal.

Oh Darn, I was hoping they would have some answers for you. This has to be very frustrating for all concerned.

I hope they can figure it out so they can treat it.

So get some rest tonight, Max is in good hands.

Poor lil guy...I know how stressed you must be....I hope everything goes well and it ends up being something "minor". Know that my thoughts are with you and constantly thinking about you and your family during this difficult time...HUGS:)

This whole situation is just killing me. I am over the initial shock of the fee but it's simply something that my family and I have not budgeted for. I'm just really struggling with my emotions. I want Max to be healthy. The vet doesn't think his quality of life is affected right now.

I don't know much about LSU but have heard great things about it and I was very comfortable dropping Max off. The doctor already called me this evening to tell me the Opthalmology Dept. did one test and it came back normal, but now they are working on a horse, so they can't do the next yet.

I was interviewed by a 4th year college student who then brought Max to a room with a team of vets and college students. I feel he is in the best care right now. I'm a total, nervous wreck and barely hanging on, but pushing forward.

I have taken Lady to the NC Vet school. I love having "Team Lady" with several vets and students.

Bless you heart. I don't how you came up with $1,500 and counting for all these tests, but good for you. I pray you get some good news.

wow...sounds like he is in really good hands....sure hope they can give you some answers as to whats wrong....so sorry you are having to go through this with your precious little one..keeping you and him in prayer...:)

I really hope everything work out for you and max. I hope that the breeder will help like she has said she would so that some of your stress will be gone. I know how expensive vet bills can get, and it seems so frustraiting to not know what is wrong yet. hopefully you will get some answers soon. I'm wishing you luck and happiness for your family!

You gotta believe this, Max is with the Best. They will help him. We are here for support. No one here can offer you medical advise but we can put our listening ears on and give you lots of support. Hang in there. Maybe your breeder can help out with the cost. Please have faith.....Lissette

I'm not going to ask anyone for money. My mom always told me "if money can fix it, then it's not so bad". She told me that this morning too. Then screamed at me for paying $1500.

I'm just reading this thread, and I'm so sorry you are going through this. The videos were so sad; I sure hope the doctors can find out what's causing this, and your breeder will be supportive. Sending prayers for strength.

I've had positive experiences at two different vet schools, UF and Auburn. I'm sure LSU is a terrific place as well. They get much more exposure to unusual cases and have experts in every specialty. Max is in great hands!

And you are fabulous! I respect and admire you so much for your commitment to help Max. You haven't taken the easy way out, which would be to return him to the breeder. He needs YOU and your partner, and I think he really is just where he is suppose to be.

Many warm thoughts for Max and your family. I hope Cooper isn't too lonely tonight ;) Extra hugs to him.
