My first concern would be the Leba III.
I wouldn't do anything else until you stop this product and see what happens (beyond Benadryl if you want).

No product is side effect free and these things are not regulared or monitored by the FDA. There is no system for reporting side effects and there are people who think that these types of products shouldn't be used because of the alcohol. If this is stopped and the problem recurred, I'd really wonder about his teeth and gums.

Thank you. I last gave him Leba III yesterday. I'm curious how long the effects of the alcohol will last. I will stop immediately. The more I think about it, the more I think it's the Leba III. I'm going to hold off on the vet, at least for the next couple of days. Thanks, Ellie May.

I agree with this, especially since there seems to be a correlation between symptoms and when you started Leba. Each dog can react so uniquely.

Also, Alldogboots, antihistamines can't really be evaluated fully until they've been used for the dog at least 10-14 days...so hang in there. I know it's so difficult to see something bothering him.

I'm leaning towards the Leba III also. I just want to make sure this isn't an emergency situation, and I don't think at this point it is. Although at 3am it's a little scary

Since you told your vet about it and they are not too concerned, it is not an emergency.

You can always go over the basics so you can check things out when it is happening (gum color, capillary refill time, pulse, respiration, etc.).

One thing does concern me a little bit though. If you figure out it is the Leba, then maybe it dried out his mouth or whatever. But I just hope it isn't doing anything more damaging. Since you stopped it yesterday, if he does it again tonight, that's when I'd start to be concerned.

Since it's been happening at what I think are random intervals I believe they basics are all normal (at least they all appear normal to me). I stopped the Leba III yesterday but I'm not too sure how long that would last in his system.

I should probably also mention that the episodes may only be one lick or two licks. It's not a ten minute or 1/2 hour thing (except in bed at night). He may be sitting quietly looking out the window and lick his lips a few times.

Thank you. I've done tons of research on Leba III before letting Cooper use it and could not find one negative reaction. I'm crossing my fingers that this is the problem and that hopefully no additional damage has been done.

A safer alternative would be coconut oil, on a Q-tip.

I know, I know, will she ever shaddup about that Coconut oil! No. It works!

Couldn't I just go back to brushing his teeth? I've really used it on/off for 6 weeks - not quite the recommended amount.
