| My puppy has pneumonia. What should I do? I found out my little puppy has pneumonia. They thought it was kennel cough at first. Any advice on how serious this is? She is playful and eats. Coughing sounds better; she only coughs a few times a day now. I am so worried about her and do not want to give her back for another puppy. She was sick when I got her from the seller. They are giving her breathing treatments right now and hopefully that will help and is on AB. Not sure what to do from there on.... When do you know that the pneumonia is gone? |

| I would just follow your Vet's advice. It will take a little while for the AB to take action.

| Just obey the vet's advice and recommendations. Even if she *seems* well after taking the AB for awhile, make sure you finish out the ABs or it will come back. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby !! First - I'd follow the vets instructions very carefully and try to find others who've been thru this for tips....2nd - I'd talk to the breeder and see what she says - I totally understand you wanting to keep her and trading for another is not an option ...but the breeder should work with you I would hope she does if she came to you sick....and 3rd - if your breeder sucks and isn't responsive - post a review here so others are aware. I've read where many can come thru this with no aftereffects but the treatment can take a long time - and GOOD LUCK to you - I hope she's going to be ok |

You probably need to call the breeder just to inform her/ him. The breeder needs to know for several reasons, but mainly so that any other pups can be checked. Poor baby!

| Sorry about your baby. If its like people pneumonia, it will take awhile for it to be completely resolved. I'm sure you know to finished the antibiotics. I would ask the vet if its viral or bacterial and what the difference is between them. Hope your baby continues to improve!!!

| Oh they know. I think they knew before they sold her to me. They allready have other puppies who are sick. That's whats frustrating. They said some of them have a cough but the one I bought was fine but that sure wasn't the truth. These people sell the dogs from the breeder in Arkansa (I live in Vegas).

| Gizmo thanks you! Your little girl is a stunner!! Did you mention her name? I probably just missed it somewhere, but would like to know. How is she doing today?

I was sad this morning. Her cough sounded bad. I dropped her off at the people I got her from and I couldn't help but cry. I told them this is very frustrating and I don't know what to do. I was sold a sick dog and I can't afford all the expensive vet bills it might take to get her well since I do not currently have a job and I don't want to bring her back to them not only because I am attached to this little girl and love her but also because it is heartbreaking to think that they might put her to sleep. She's going to get the treatment three times today...we'll see. How old is Gizmo and is she hyper as hell as my Baby is? She likes to bite on everything and everybody too.

| LOL Baby is a cute name. Sorry I missed that. Gizmo is hyper in spurts and then he has his quiet lap moments. He plays differently with different members of our household. He is a puppy, so he does bite, but we don't play biting type games with him involving our hands or toes. When he bites hard we remove attention (He does NOT like that!) for awhile and redirect him to a chewing toy. The biting hard has stopped for the most part. We just have to be consistent. I'm confused about something in your last post. Who did you take Baby to? The person you got her from? The breeder or ?? I probably just read your post wrong, but I'm confused.

| I'm confused too...I hope Baby is getting better. Did you buy her from a pet store? You said the breeder was in Arkansas...where is Baby getting treatments?
