I'm praying for Daisy, I hope she can come home to you and Pixie very soon!! |
I'm so glad that she's doing better! :D That's fantastic news! Does she need more treatment for the Lime Disease (sp?) since she can't take Doxyclycline now? |

Hi Joyce! I just got home and able to check for updates! I'm so thankful her ivis went down and will pray that it continues to go down. This isn't the first time I've heard of a med nearly killing a dog. I'm so glad they have figured that out and she can be on the road to recovery. Gosh, Joyce...you really need a break one of these days! Hugs to you! Get well wishes to Daisy! |

last night I had a head ache that wouldn't quit and was eating asprin like candy all day on an empty stomach bc I couldn't eat. today my stomach is on fire from taking all the asprin. I just need my Daisy home. I keep thinking about her and how she hates to be crated. I never crated her when she was a pup and the groomer doesn't crate her bc I pick her up as soon as she is done. I am praying those lvls continue to drop |
so sorry to hear about wee daisy, ive just read this,, hoping u have ur baby back soon xxxx thoughts and prayers for you xxxxx |
Hope Daisy has a restful night :) |

I am sure she will be fine by tomorrow. It takes some time for them to get her balanced out and fluids are good for her right now. I doubt this is cancer so stop worrying about that ;) I think it was a reaction to meds. Yep I know the feeling as the vet did not check dee dee chart and almost gave her convenia shot when she broke out in hives from simplicef - same antibiotic family. I would have been screwed if I had agreed to it but I said NOPE as we did not know she had a UTI so why give her an antibiotic plus shots are much more strong than pills. At end of appt i said you remember she had hives from simplicef and he looked like OH NO and said good thing we did not give her that shot. NO Good thing i told you NOOOOOO. So am I surprised - sadly no :( I am just glad she is ok and you were a good mom and on top of it quick or this could have not been so good :( Also glad it is the liver and not the kidneys affected as liver is forgiving where as kidneys are not. |
I'm confused. Is the vet saying that a dog that has a reaction to the lepto vaccine will have a reaction to Doxycycline? Or, did she have a reaction to that antibiotic in the past? |
update Daisy is not doing well this morning, she can't keep food down. They want to call in a specialist and frankly I don't know how I am going to afford this. They are taking her lvs today to see if they shot back up. I am a wreck and my heart is broken:( yes ladyjane they said if she had a reaction to lepto vaccination than she should not of gone on doxycycline. I am not sure why but I guess bc Daisy has a sensitive stomach issue all her life. maybe that is why? Right now I am so upset!! confused and worried, I can't lose her:( |
I am so sorry. Was hoping she was coming home today. Will be praying for Daisy and your family. |

Ask about the plasma as that does wonders in some situations. Hang in there once she gets back on track the liver will repair. What is going on with the kidneys are they ok? I am so sorry you are going through this :( do you have www.carecredit.com ? what are they feeding her? Maybe you could cook up some cod as it is highly digestible and try to feed her that as she needs low protein right now with liver being off so what they are trying to feed is important. |
Oh Joyce . . .I was so hoping to hear good news this morning . . .still keeping my thoughts with you and Daisy . . . |
If you do the cod then add some of the zucchini juice i told you about as zucchini cleanses the liver - just juice it and put pulp in with the cod. and pour a little juice over it and see if she can keep this down. Make sure organic My friend did it with her bull mastiffs that had toxic plant poison and were on iv fluids and the levels dropped rapidly. She did the zucchini juicing and milk thistle |

I really would like more information if anyone has any. As for blaming the vet, I highly doubt that is going to go anywhere; but I don't know. If the vet does really believe another vet was wrong to give Doxycycline, then perhaps that would work. I would definitely look into Care Credit. Often the interest rate is zero...or at least very low. Depends upon the vet you use and whether they accept Care Credit or not....and if they do, what their terms are. You also could let your vet know your circumstances and perhaps they can do a telephone consult with a specialist rather than you going there because, yes, they are costly. |
Just saw the update. :( |

Daisy already has health issues so any med can go wrong when a dog is not real healthy to begin with as did with mine. She has a sensitive stomach and antibiotics can make them sick to their tummy as well. I will keep searching too - just feel so bad for her :( I just saw where tylan powder affects liver enzymes so figured this would too since an antibiotic as well. I just wish she was home already :( It could just be she had a reaction to lepto so she is susceptible to reactions to other things like stronger meds who knows :( |
The Veterinary Use of Tetracycline (Panmycin) in Pets it is a tetracycline http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Rx_Inf...tracycline.pdf It is not fda approved in dogs I did read so will check out why on fda.gov site |

She is in the emergency but the vets are part owners. Bolton veterinary hospital has many vets and they do have to call in an ultrasound specialist if her lvls went up. Daisy has had stomach issues ever since I got her at 10 weeks. Daisy has had many health issues. The first two years of her life in and out of the hospital almost dieing 2 times. I home cooked a special diet bc she could not handle dog food. Sadly Daisy was bought by my daughter at a pet store bf we even knew about puppy mills. When I researched where she came from I found out that she was a puppy mill dog. When we first got her she would not even let you pet her she would scower and hide. I worked with her and gained her trust. She is such a sweet dog and very loving now. As for the doxycycline they already wrote across her files NO DOYCYCLINE!! The vet said after view Daisy's history she realized that she should not of been given this drug especially bc she had a bad reaction to the lepto vaccination. Also daisy was given the Max for her size and now I am really upset to find out it is not FDA approved for dogs!!! OMG!! I am praying that her lvls didn't go back up bc that could mean something more serious. |

Glad your vet is part owner as that will help with bill I hope :( |
I am so very sorry she is not doing well. We were all hoping that she\'d be coming home today, and know you really miss each other. More prayers are going your way and hope it turns around quickly for Daisy. |
We are calling the vet at 2:30 to see if they have the results. My poor husband is having the worst fathers Day. Daisy is a Daddys girl most of the time except when she is sick she stays close to me. She goes everywhere with my husband that is his little buddy. She even sits in the recliner with him at night. We are both so upset over this and have to attend a family pic nic feeling this way:( |
Joyce...I was so sure I would see that Daisy has improved, and feel so bad after reading your update. I will continue to pray for her. I send hugs to you and yours. Sure hope you get good news at 2:30! |
