cerenia is for anti-vomitting I bet it was convenia which is an antibiotic shot many vets are now doing as they last for 14 days and they have little side effects as what my vet told me when dd was having issues but i refused it so how i learned about it and turned out she did not have any uti infection so glad i refused it but he said they have run blood work after the shot and it does not affect blood work like some antibiotics do |

I would try tramadol if not gas or pancreatitis |

I would try tramadol if not gas or pancreatitis - make sure they give you pills though and NOT liquid as it is very bitter |

I am so sorry to hear that Roxy isn't feeling well. I wouldn't rule out it being a problem with her stomach. My little girl Ashley had lots of problems with gas and irritable bowel. It was scary for her when her stomach was upset. When she really wasn't feeling well, she didn't eat, but many times she ate, even though her belly was bothering her. Her x-rays showed a lot of gas most times that we took them. On two occasions she was given a shot of cerenia, which is what I am guessing your doctor gave Roxy. We started giving her gas-x once a day, and that made her more comfortable. I really hope she gets well very quickly. |

3 days! This has me very worried..... |
Poor Roxy. :( I hope you find out what it is soon and that it is something easily resolved. Will say a prayer for her. editing to say I had NO idea this was days old....hope she is ok |
sorry guys...weekend was really nuts and I am at work and this morning was crazy. Roxy got better and better as each day went on. Still eating and drinking well. She is on Metro 2x a day until Thrs. She is back to peeing and marking like she normally does, and she is pooping solid (no mucus). Vet called me Sat evening. Her blood results were all in normal range, except her Lipase was elevated, which he said would be since she had diarrhea. The shot he gave her was Cimetidine - he said it is like Tagamet for dogs. And apparently she really, really needed it. We spoke in great lengths and because she got better, we feel she must have had a very severe stomach and GI and GAS issue. I still am in amazement that she was effected so badly bc of it, she was truly down for the count on this one... I asked about the disc issue, he said we will monitor her. He said that was only 'an interpretation' of that xray, not that it is anything set in stone. So all in all (and $300 later) - my Roxy girl had GAS  Thanks for all the input and well wishes...I was really really worried, as her behavior simply turned bizarre (for her) and I was fearing the worst! |
With the lipase being up and the pain, I still wonder about pancreatitis. So good to hear that she is better. :) |
