Just still thinking about it b/c we both know what anything along this line can potentailly do to an already angry pancreas... :(
It may be the best thing ever for her liver and even her intestines, but I'm tired of the pancreas getting set off.

I would not do it if i were you :( a friend did grizzly salmon oil and it set her dogs pancreatitis off again :( I do not risk any supplements with dex. DD i proceed with caution and doing coconut oil only as coconut oil does not affect the pancreas like the others - something with the way the body processes it because it is a medium chain fatty acid but I still would not do it with dex so your fears are warranted. Trust your gut. Pancreas is no fun at all when it goes out of whack not to mention deadly :(

Well, she did say use only if tolerated, but I don't want to find out that it's not tolerated too late! She has always done fine on fish oil before and it has never set her off. She just hasn't been on any for awhile. Sigh. All so hard. :(

yeah I know how you feel. Dex has been fine for 4 years and dd is my challenge so i know how you feel as dealing with dex for a year was horrible so i am so thankful for every day that goes by with no issues.

Years ago 6 mos prior to him getting sick I rotated one day dermacaps, one day flaxseed oil, one day fish oil. This was before i knew anything and yep I tried everything I had an animal communicator come to the home and she said what are you putting on the food as it is making dex sick to his tummy and she said he is vomitting once in a while and i found vomit but not all the time but did not catch who was doing it and she said it is Dexter so I stopped immediately and 6 mos later he had full blown pancreatitis. Now how freaky is that - she picked up on his issues 6 mos prior when she was at my home. I was always skeptical of that stuff but yep I will try anything for Dee Dee so I had her come out for Dee Dee but she did all dogs and that is what she said with dex. After that I never used fatty acids except for coconut oil for Dee Dee. It really did not seem to help dd back then though and she is allergic to flaxseed so probably why she was not better :( I also had her on cod liver oil before per holistic vet back when this itching all started which is a huge no no for mvd dogs but she was fine so she did fine with cod liver and on raw diet and has mvd. I was pretty lucky I guess lolll as she has never showed signs of liver disease just showed up in blood work.

does it have enough vitamin E in there; how much
and do u give one every day or every other day.
will it be good for a dog with ibd?

I would not supplement an ibd dog with this until the dog is on the right diet first as diet is key as you have to stay very basic with a dog with health issues and then branch out one thing at a time and if reaction you disguard that thing and never use a gain.

I contacted nordic naturals to make sure they had vitamin E in the omega-3 and they confirmed they do have vitamin E in it but never hurts to double check with them as things are constantly changing.

Ibd dogs are very prone to pancreatitis especially if the ibd is in the small intestines which I believe Ava has as she vomits not so much diarrhea. Vomitting is small intestines, diarrhea is large intestine and vomitting and diarrhea is the entire intestinal tract. If the fatty acid goes wrong then it can trigger pancreatitis in an ibd dog - I personally would not risk it with an ibd or pancreatitis dog.
