There are several ways to treat scabies. In the past, the most effective treatment had been to clip the dog if he had long hair, bathe him with a benzoyl peroxide shampoo to cleanse the skin, and then apply an organophosphate dip (Paramite). Amitraz dips and Mitaban (also organophosphates), and lime sulfur dips (Lymdip) have also been used effectively. The dogs are usually dipped once every two weeks for two to three times. While effective, these dips are very unpleasant to apply for both the owner and the dog. Because the dip must come in contact with the mites and many mites live on the face and ears of dogs, great care must be exercised when applying these dips to these sensitive areas. The dips can be toxic to humans and are not suitable for very young, old, or debilitated animals. In addition, there are some reported cases of resistance to these dips in some cases of sarcoptic mange.

Fortunately, there are several other products that have been extremely effective, safe, and convenient in treating sarcoptic mange. Selamectin (Revolution) is a topical solution that is applied once a month and also provides heartworm prevention, flea control, some tick protection and protection against Sarcoptic mange. Frontline Plus, Frontline Top Spot, and Frontline Spray are also labelled for use as aids in controlling sarcoptic mange. Liquid ivermectin is an off label alternative that is sometimes used. It is used at much higher concentrations than are found in heartworm preventives (e.g., Heartgard). Ivermectin should not be used in Collies or Shetland sheep dogs and should be used with caution in the herding breeds. In dogs that are sensitive to ivermectin, some veterinarians have been having success using milbemycin oxime (Interceptor) at an off-label dose. All of these products should only be used under direct veterinary supervision and care.

My vet recommended Revolution as well. It prevents from fleas, ticks and also acts on mosquitos which carry the heartworm.

Are the dips for the scabies or the ringworm? After adopting a kitten from the shelter, I ended up with ringworm in all of my pets. I had to dip nine dogs and four cats once a week. I also gotit as did my mother, who lives with me. I was even able to send my, who came for a weekend during that oh so special time home with a souvenir.
I recommend you call the state department of health and report this breeder. And the USDA. The dept of health because she is selling dogs with diseases and parasites harmful to people and the USDA, if she is licensed, for the same reason. Lastly, you should report her to animal control or the humane society in what ever city or county the puppymill is located and report the breeder. Can you imagine what the animals who are living in that situation must be suffereing?

I'm really sorry to hear about the medical condition that your puppies were in when you got them. Hearing this breaks my heart and makes me so angry with the people who are doing this to these helpless, innocent animals.

I know you're going through A LOT right now and I'm sure it's not on the top of your list to do it but when you can, as Lizzie07 has suggested, PLEASE report these people to every place you can. Your vet bills will serve as "proof" of the conditions that these people are making these dogs live in.

Seriously, my insides are just twisted thinking about those poor babies having to live with all that going on when all they want to do is play and be babies. ugh! And it's so hard to enjoy them when you're having to do all of this work instead of play and bond with them. I'm so sorry for you.

You know, it would be really helpful for you to disclose the name of this place so that we can warn others about them.

Please post pictures when you can and I sincerely hope your little ones will be ok really soon.

I agree but what scares me is did you see that one story where they came to the puppymill for a report about fleas and the puppymiller took all those dogs out in back and shot them all this is what scares me will happen

That miller should go to jail. But what he did would NOT prevent me from reporting someone.

At least the dogs no longer had to live like they were....not a good ending, but honestly, if I were a dog living in hell I would rather be shot.

Most don't shoot the dogs...that is just one story. There are hundreds of busts all over the country and they need to continue. People need to continue to report bad breeders!!!

I agree just made me sad that story was so horrific I wish they could change the laws so animals are not considered property and these people can get just punishment when committing horrible crimes like this
