| FHO surgery Noah is having FHO (Femoral head osteoectomy) surgery today. A couple of month ago my fiance rolled over on him and he hadn't been walking right ever since. I took him to the local vet and they said that he may or may not need to surgery since he was so small. I didn't like the uncertainty of that answer so I took him elsewhere, where they confirmed breakage in the femoral head and that surgery would be necessary. I am very nervous about this. The vet said that they would call me with any complications or if he thought additional ACL surgery would be needed today as well. I was just wondering if anybody else had experience with this type of procedure to ease my mind. Pray for my fur-baby! |

| I do not know anything about this procedure. I hope everything goes well today. Keep us posed as I know the day will be difficult for you. We all suffer the pain along with you. There are unbelievable outcomes from the prayers on this board so know that we are all praying for you and your furbaby.

| Noah is doing just fine! I called the vet today at 2:30pm, and they told me that Noah did just fine. Dr. Mulch said that Noah's knee was just fine and that nothing needed to be done with it. He also said that his hip was exactly as he had predicted so the procedure was textbook for him. They told me that Noah had just gotten out of surgery only an hour before I had called, so he was still a little groggy. They told me that he was a little cold from the anesthesia and that one of the girls from the front desk were sitting with him and holding him. I was very pleased to hear that my baby was being taken care so well. The vet also told me that they went ahead and pulled Noah's baby teeth at no additional charge since he had adult teeth grown in aleady and they were just going to cause problems. I am so pleased with this vet clinic. The fact that I got to talk directly with the man that performed the surgery, and that he told me Noah was going to be perfectly fine just made my day. I pick him up tomorrow around 2:30pm (central time). I will keep everybody posted on Noah's recovery on a different Thread since this is for emergencies only and I don't think I would consider this to be an emergency any longer. I will down load pictures so you all can see how he is healing, and so everybody can have a good understanding of the process just in case the unfortunate happens to any of you as well. thanks for you prayers and concerns! |
