Yorkie Yakker | HELP-Kia is back in hospital Kia is back in the hospital...help....her blood sugar dropped, they don't know why and it won't stay up unless she is on a drip. We had to run her yesterday afternoon, she was almost in a coma by the time we got her to the vet. sob sob....I cried all night. They also think she has internal bleeding and have called in a specialist. Why wouldn't she be able to keep her blood sugar up? And why the internal bleeding? They also are going to check for tumor on the pancreas....Please someone give me something to hold on too...I'm starting not to understand any of this and just want my baby back........ |

| Oh no! I'm so sorry. Kia has been such a strong little girl with everything she's been through. I pray this is just a minor setback for her. Could the internal bleeding be from removing the rock from her stomach? Maybe there's just a small bleeder they missed or that broke open? Stay strong for her - she needs you right now. Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way.

Yorkie Yakker | Can they just go in and repair the bleeder? I'm so upset, I just can't stand this, she has been through way more than she needs....She is sooo small and sooo skinny, she just has no muscle, NO FAT, and she now of course doesn't want to eat...my daughter in law is on her way to go see her...(I've got copd real bad, hooked to oxygen 24/7-was in the hospital myself friday night-can things get any worse?) Kia will stay in the hospital today and tomorrow. My daughter that lives with me will be stopping by on her way to work also, she is going to take one of my t-shirts down for her...this is just awful. What a lousy time for me to be ill. What about the pancreas? Is that a problem with yorkies? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so sorry Kia is back in the hospital . It sounds like she will get some great care from the specialists - and they will get to the bottom of this. Blood sugar can drop for several reasons, but it's good they have her on a drip until they know more - this should help stabilize. Have they isolated the bleed yet? I will keep her in my thoughts and hope that they very quickly find the bleed and stop it. You must be so worried, I can't imagine. Please know that you're not alone!

Yorkie Yakker | This is so hard...They have not isolated the bleed, they are going to look for a tumor in the pancreas.....I'm just sick with this....She has no clue as to where I've gone, I'm loosing it.... |

Yorkie Yakker | OK, I'm pulling it together, my daughter in law is coming to get me, I've got to go down and see Kia. I think I want them to find the bleed, go back in, whatever, but find the bleed. I do not think she has a tumor at all. It's from the rock being in there so long....I'll catch back up when I get home...thank you...so much, thank you! |

| I have not been following this little one but she looks too young to have a tumor in pancreas. How old is she? Sounds like this is due to the removal of the rock. They said this to me about dex when he was so sick with pancreatitis and he was only two. Did not buy it and found internal medicine and no tumor. I am glad they are bringing in specialists. I hope everything will be ok. |

| Sending prayers for Kia and for you and her doctors. This little one has been through so much and she finally has a loving caring family taking care of her. She has survived this far so she has to be a little fighter. She knows you love her and she will pull through. Stay strong for her, you are such a good mom and she knows that.

| Checking back in for news on Kia. Did the doctors find the cause of the bleeding? Were they able to stabilize her blood sugar?

| Other causes of hypoglycemia include fasting before vigorous exercise, which may be a factor in the syndrome called "hunting dog hypoglycemia"; Addison's disease, an endocrine problem caused by a lack of hormone production by the adrenal glands which can cause weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, and collapse; excessive insulin administration, as may occur in pets with diabetes mellitus; insulin-producing tumors of the pancreas, called "insulinomas" or "beta cell tumors"; severe liver disease; some other tumors that produce insulin-like factors; dogs with portosystemic shunts, which are congenital blood vessel abnormalities the cause blood from the intestines to by-pass the liver; hereditary diseases arising from abnormal storage of glucose as starch in the liver, or glycogen storage disease; and serious systemic bacterial infection, or sepsis. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | She is on Mito, but just had a Stim last week and the results were great . This little girl has been through so much, and her Mama is just an angel - I can't believe this. They just did bloodwork last week on her too, so I'm wondering if that showed anything w/ the pancreas or ? I'm still not sure why they suspected the bleed (clinically). I mean, I kinda wonder if the pancreas was nicked, is bleeding and/or has a contusion, and is spilling amylase - causing the huge uptake in sugar (hence hypogly)? Any sort of pancreatic contusion can cause amylase to spill. I so hope she is okay, she really needs people pulling for her.
