Thanks so much for the AA links!! |
Hello All!! It has been awhile since I have posted. After the vet visit at UA I was supposed to take them back in 4 weeks to reevaluate them. I was leary of doing this since I had already forked out money and recieved no answers. I wanted to watch them a little more. They are still having seizures with no other symptoms. I talked wtih the head of neurology at UA and he is suggesting hydocephalus. My options are to have an MRI or proceed with medication. They have already had extensive radiographs for checking out the AA Luxation- can't they uses these to help evaluate hydocephalus or any swelling of the brain since they are young???? I am sooo frustrated and just wish I had an anwer!! |
they cannot see that on an xray they do mri to see damage done to brain and they do spinal tap to check the fluid so both are usually done with neurological issues after xray is done to rule out AAI as GME/NME run in this breed and the only way to see is by those two tests as many times blood work will be normal and in some cases white blood cell count will be elevated. |

here is some info Granulomatous Meningoencephalomyelitis (GME) I recommend joining this group as they know alot about the testing as all of their dogs have been through it NewGMEDogs : NewGMEDogs |
Thanks Dwerten, They had their CSF tested and there were no problems in addition they show no other symptoms as stated in the linked info other than seizures. In addition they are 5 months old and show no further progression or regression for that matter. They have stayed the same as far as symptoms with their seizures so I don't think that dx fits but thank you so much for your quick reply. Right now any speculation as to what is going on with them is greatly appreciated!!! :) |
