| Sick Little Girl Please advise. I have a 13 1/2 yr old little female yorkie who has not eaten, drank anything, and just seems seems to have lost her will to live. She just got over a sever urinary tract and bacterial infection, only to find out she has heart problems. We are on heart meds, with no response, she is a rescue baby that I have had for 6 1/2 years. She has permanently dislocated hips and knees, she can no longer hold herself up to potty. Vet has said there is nothing else that can be done. She just lays on the sofa with this lost, fixed, very sad eyes. I am taking her today, 4/2/10 @ 10:00 a.m. to have her very peaceably put to sleep. I also have an 11 year old male that I have had since he was 10 weeks old. They are so very attached to each other. How do I handle him? How do I handle my grief? All I can do is cry - she (they) are my children. I am hurting so badly as I know my little male is also. He just lays beside her and washes her little face - all the time. Please help. Yorkie Baby Mom hurting very badly. |

| I am so sorry. We all grow attached to our pets. I am sure you have been a wonderful mom to her....please know that I have said a prayer for you and cry all you want because we all know how much it hurts. When you get home just cuddle and love on that little boy. I will be thinking about you.

| I am so sorry to read this. I know anything anyone says will not take your pain away but you did all you could do for her. You gave her that extra 6 years to live that she may not have gotten if you had not rescued her. I just lost my rescue baby a Poodle mix last Saturday. She was 11 yrs old and woke up Saturday morning so weak she couldn't put her head up. No indication of being sick before then either. She died before I could get her to the vet. It was a rough time but I know that she was a happy girl and was so appreciative of me saving her life almost 6 years ago. Go home and cuddle your little boy and know that you did all you could possibly do for your precious girl. |

| I am so, so sad for you and your little ones. Although nothing can stop the pain you are feeling; I know God will hold your babies and you in his gentle hands. Lean on Him. He grieves for and with you. Karen |

| I am so very sorry ...WE will be YOUR support As for your boy, I have read that you should allow your boy to sniff her body after she has passes, so that he knows she is gone and he will not be sad or worried as to where is went. You and He will then be able to grieve together |

| I am so sorry you are having to face this difficult decision. I am sure your little girl knows you love her and what an amazing thing you did in rescuing her. Just hold your little boy tight and love him, you will help each other through this difficult process. It is because of your love for her that you cannot stand to see her suffer. You are facing what I know we all dread, when it comes that time for our babies.

| Someone said to me..when I had to put my 13 year old schnauzer to sleep..this is your final act of love for your baby...and it is. Your other dog will look around for her for awhile. But, they do adjust. I kept Betsy's bed for Levi to sleep in....and he did. Rose and Levi

| Thank you so much for your concern. We are "really" having a hard time. Rudy has look all over the house for Princess so many times and then he just lays down - sort of pitiful. This is just so very hard. |

| I am just so sad for you. My tears are flowing. You did give her happiness and that is a blessing, but I know that 13 1/2 yrs. just isn't enough. May the Lord bless you and keep you during this sad time. Hugs, Joanne

| I think today has been sort of "things are not right here at home". He found her favorite blanket and has been laying on it. He frantically looks all through the house. I worry about leaving him alone. Do I look for another yorkie or do I just try to give it some time? By the way, mom is still grieving "really" bad. Ya know, they are just like children. And I know it's going to take a while to get over this but it just hurts so bad. Everyone on this website has been so nice. I am definitely going to keep on this site. You all are terrific. Thank you, yorkie baby mom (Sherri) |

| Sherri I lost my yorkie Sunnie this past summer while we were on vacation with 5 yorkies. It did help mine to smell him so they knew what happened to him. I will say that because I have 4 more yorkies, even though my heart was broken, they certainly helped me. Of course we know another one cannot ever replace the one we had, but having another to care for and to love on REALLY does help. You will know when it is time. Some take longer than others.. some are ready to carry on sooner
