| Need Help! Something's wrong with my yorkie Hey everyone! I would really appreciate your help in figuring out whats wrong with Nicky. I took him to the vet to have his shots taken and take a hair cut. I don't usually do them both at the same time but they asked and i said yeah. He is always pretty scared about going to the vet, but its gotten pretty serious this time. He went on thurs. and he was fine when he came home, maybe a little antsy and still a bit scared but thats normal for him. Friday and saturday I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary. But on sunday when i woke up he was a completely different dog. He's always so excited and hyper when he sees me in the morning but this time he didn't even move from the couch and he was shaking. He's been shaking on and off all day yesterday and today. I've fed him normally and it doesn't seem like anything is wrong with his stomach. He also doesn't want to go up a few steps in the house when he always runs al over the place. Im starting to get really worried because he is not like this at all. He seems very scared and nervous and doesn't really want to do anything. I dont know if it had something to do with his shots or not, i have no idea. Someone help, please. |

| Thanks for u replies! He is 5 turning 6 in June. He goes every year to get his rabies shots. I usually go inside with him but i didn't this time since he was going to get his hair cut as well. Other times i've gone in they've given him maybe 1 or 2 shots and some green liquid to drink. |

| My dog had an episode of shaking after shots, it was due to pain, she had a pain pill and was almost back to herself in a few hours. |

| Why would he go every year? I do not do rabies shots because I have read so many Yorkies have this kinda reaction. When I had Pugs and A Saint Bernard, they gave the SAME amount of Rabies shot to the Saint and the Pugs. I can not see how a 15 pound dog would need as much as a 145 pound dog? Please look up Vaccine reaction and find out what you can do to cleans his system. Rabies are good, per the vet, for 3 years however if blood tested allot of dogs are protected for 7 years! Please let us know how he is doing. |

| It is really common to have reactions after the rabies, I am sure that he prob just isnt feeling well after the shot. Copper shook after his and also lost his hair permanently at the injection site. I would keep a close eye on him and give him extra love.

| Do NOT give tylenol. It's toxic for dogs and cats. |

| could be from the shot, but you mentioned he had a haircut also. Check him over to make sure they didn't cut him or razor burn him. Do they do his anals ? maybe they didn't do them. And last , how short is his hair ? maybe he's just cold. |

| Yes i believe rabies is required everywhere. However getting a shot every year seems way to much. Please look into something holistic for him. Maybe some Rescue remedy. Arnica Montana is good for bumps, maybe you can try some Calms Fotre for him before he has to go to groomers/Vets next time. You may need to get some Hypericum which is good for pain. Please let us know how he is doing. Also Like the other poster said, I would check for burns and nicks. |

| I just looked at FL laws out of curiosity and found this: Miami-Dade County - Animal Services So...what they are saying is that after the initial shots, you follow the manufacturers recommendations. Since there is a 3 year rabies shot, I would think that would make it every three years?? To the OP: I would ask your vet for more information about this. Also, is that the only shot that was given??
