Could the Humane Society (or their vet) take the xray, as their costs are normally less than regular vet. (you still pay for it) Also, does your vet know that your dog is a rescue? Sometimes vets will give a break to owners who have adopted a formerly unwanted/abandoned animal.

Thank you for your post, hon..I have checked with the vet about payment plans or a lower cost for my Neko. She knows he was a rescue and from her humane society. It's still a (no-go), being said that it's my responsibility. I've found a way of getting the money and getting the appointment scheduled soon. The advice about the vicks..I figured that one out eventually seeing that I hadn't gotten a response to it yet. I just allowed him to sleep elsewhere for a few days. He hated it, and so did I but I figured it was best. As for the "low sodium chicken broth"..Wow, I would have never guessed that one. I will try it because I use it often. My vet also told me that the sooner the x-ray, if they are stones, it should be early on because the bleeding just startedand it isn't much. She also said that it was possible to pass the stones if they are small without having to have surgery, too! I called her yesterday and told her that there was not sign of blood now for about 4 or 5 days. She mentioned the antibiotics may have worked for him, but to still get in for the x-ray soon. Again, it just all boils down to me getting him back in for the x-ray and I know this. Thanx again for your advice!!!!!!

Unfortunately...I haven't taken him yet for his x-ray. To give an update on him, he is now done with his 10 days of antibiotics and I haven't noticed blood in his urine while taking him outside in 4 days and counting! Not to say that this is the best news, knowing that he still has a problem that hasn't been ruled out yet by x-ray and or further testing.

Previously, at the vet, I was told that Neko's urine sample would be taken and that he would be prescribed some antibiotics for the next 10 days. The vet called me the next day saying that the urine tested negative for a UTI and the ph levels were normal also there were no signs of crystals. So she mentioned an x-ray to rule out stones and in the meantime to continue the antibiotics. I have increased Neko's water and changed his food. He is currently (just as he always had been) still eating and drinking well and still very much so ACTIVE and showing us LOVE!

I'm not saying that I don't love my dog, but last year my husband lost his job here in MI and my poor little family have been suffering something awful. We've almost lost our home, cars, etc. thanx to the financial struggle. I've applied for the Care Credit Health Care as the Humane Society suggested because they will not pay for anything. I was told that once I took ownership of the dog from them, they are no longer liable for his care, I AM. I figured and it's so..With our financial crises, I was turned down for the Care Credit Card. As for all who wanted me to know how serious the situation is and how much my dog could or could not be in pain/suffering..I know this and for this reason, my family have discussed surrendering Neko back to the Humane Society if we can't come up with money for his care. This will hurt us something awful, but the dog will not have to suffer. So I do understand and "Thanx Again" to everyone who gave that advice. I will continue to borrow rob or steal if I have to..to get my baby taken care of...In the meantime, I'm continuing to pray!

I totally understand your situation...we are in the same boat ourselves. The hubby has been unemployed for 2 years and Bitsy has the same problem as Neko. Hopefully the food change will be all that is needed and he will be ok. I am praying for you that it doesn't get worse. Hugs

It's really hard..I love my dog! My mom don't like dogs..She said she didn't think that I could take such a liking to a dog. Well, since adopting my Neko..My dog is in my car, on my lap, etc..I love my baby! Even with my hubby's job loss, including in the grocery bill you better believe it's my dog food and treats! So I do understand that his situation may be important to handle right now, but it's been really hard financial for us. It will be painful, I watched my son cry when I told him that we will just give Neko back if we can't help him. But I will to keep from seeing him suffer if I can't get the money, ya know? I'm still trying though...
