Senior Yorkie Talker | yorkie puppy resp infection Hi I am the owner or Ellie the AAI puppy in body brace, now 15 weeks old. This past Tue she had her first cast change. Had a little set back with discomfort with it, but doing well now. At the same time, vet discovered a upper resp infection- on antibiotics- know it will knock it our. MY question is- does anyone know of an additional way to comfort her during her stuffy congested nose time? I have read other vet forums and see they suggest vicks vaporizor- i am asking you for any breed specific advice first. Just wish i could help hr sound less stuffy and clear the nasal passages. Plz let me know if you have any tips. Thank you so much! Also- I have created a new blog for Ellie at Yorkie Ellie's Journey for anyone that want to follow her case or help others diagnosed with AAI.

| Barney has had a couple of respiratory infections over the years. I usually just take him in the bathroom and let him breath in some steam over the bathroom sink (careful not to burn). This opens him up but does not use menthol or anything else. I do it for a couple of minutes a few times a day and it usually stops the bronchial spasms he gets (he has reverse sneezing so tends to honk and spasm when he has a cold). Good luck!

| My little Emma has pneumonia and I take her into the bathroom. I have a laundry basket with a blanket in it for her. I put the basket on the counter and turn on the shower full hot for 10 full mins (you can barely see) then shut off the water and wait another 10 mins. Then I tap on her chest...both sides and back..she coughs and sneezes out alot of the congestion and it helps her breathe better. Just make sure you do no let them outside for at least 2 hours after doing that. I like this holistic approach better than more meds... |
