I just found this video of head pressing in an ls dog- trying to see if i see one like bella YouTube - Liver Shunt - Pug Pacing and Head Pressing |
Yes, Bella's on L/D food. I'll look more into petmeds.com. Will my vet give me a prescription for it? Also, would it be the same doses? I'm hoping the meds from there won't be too weak or too strong. Has anyone ordered from petmeds for lactulose? |

Bella doesn't seem to do that. She does walks close the the walls and would sometimes run into them from not seeing the corners when we turn or something. Also, she normally eats once at night and that's it but her symptoms are all day since I noticed it says "after they eat". |

Lactulose 473 mL = $30.00 (from my vet) local pharmacy may be cheaper. Strength = 10gm/15mL human script is the same I think no diff, very safe, if one requires a stronger dose you just up the amount you give. General guideline is that you give enough to produce a formed but very soft stool: hard to pick up mush but not diarrhea. Please keep her on a leash especially with head/brain problems. Something could spook her and cause her to head into traffic which was clearly evident in your video. |
Did I read that right? When she got vaccine DHLPP? Lepto should never be given to small breeds, causes to many problems/deaths. Corona either, or lymes. dental vac and giardia vac as they are too new, long term effects not in. Adverse reactions reported in Yorkies. |
here are some videos of a liver shunt dog that just had the shunt repaired that we helped on another yorkie group videos :: sick3.flv video by suzeb29 - Photobucket videos :: sick2.flv video by suzeb29 - Photobucket videos :: sick1.flv video by suzeb29 - Photobucket videos :: better.flv video by suzeb29 - Photobucket |

dwerten thanks so much for those videos. Roxy has MVD and ya know what, she does walk around the house like that sometimes. I thought head pressing was standing at the wall and pressing the head into it. Now that I see the "walking along side the walls, etc." I do beleiev Roxy is showing those HE signs. Now, I am going to put her on Lactulose and Metro and see it this continues. Gosh, I thought that was just her. :( |

I really, really suggest that you see a Specialist. I don't know if this seems like LS or a Head/Brain (Neuro) issue to me. But something is going on and it is best to get to a Specialist ASAP. Again, please post the BAT results :) |
Thanks TLC I knew you could help on this ;) |
I also wanted to say this. I don't know if your Vet is 100% convinced of LS either. I say this bc he still wants you to see a Neurologist. LS babies see an Internal Medicine Specialist, so the he wants you to see a Neurologist bc he may still think this is neuro related. Also, LS babies are put on Metro as the antib. I have never seen an LS baby on clavamox. I think Clavamox is for infection??? So I think he is really covering all basis with, but it sounds that he is just not sure. And I really can't comment or give advice about LS or MVD, without knowing the BAT results. And as others stated, a BAT is not conclusive of a shunt, it only shows liver function, more testing needs to be done. I really recommended taking his advice and seeing a Neurologist. At the speciality hospital, they have all sorts of specialist, so if the Neuro has to consult with an Internal Medicine Specialist, they are all available under one roof. Best Wishes and please don't delay, something is very wrong with her. |
