| ![]() Lola is home this evening and is doing ok. She is on some new meds to make her more comfortable. If she is unable to eat this evening, tomorrow they are going to put her on Mirtazapine which will help with nausea, vomiting and also stimulate her appetite. The medicine she was on was making her sick, so that has been changed. I spoke with the vet and she is very thorough and exploring some other ideas regarding how Lola contracted this fungus. Thankfully, Lola's liver and kidney values look very good right now! Her treatment plan is going to be reviewed on Monday. At that time she may be starting IV meds that will certainly put a hole in Lissette's pocket; but will hopefully get good results. Just one bottle is $500 which will be for three treatments...and she will need three/week. Yikes! That would be given for two weeks and does not include the cost of the iv administration and hospitalization...and further lab testing which will be needed. I was curious about the cost and asked the vet....as I know how costly these things can be. It is a lesson for everyone to stash money. You just never know when you can get nailed with something like this. Very scary. All I can say is that Lola is SO lucky to have such a caring family! Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

| ![]() Well, I finally can sit for a few minutes and type. This has been so hard watching your dog die in front and not much hope until now. Lola was frothing everytime I gave her Sporonox and vomiting. This happened 14 days after she started taking it. We have switched her over to Flouconazole 2 times a day. They found bacterial translocation and gave her a Convenia injection. She also recieved a cobalamine injection. He liver functions remain good, her Albumin went up 2.0. She will need to have these rechecked every week. We also have her on Maropitant citrate for vomiting if needed. Tramadol for pain and she is back on Metro. We will be starting the liposome-encapsulated amphotericin B. She will be getting plasma when needed. Lola has lost her muscle mass and looks like a bone with skin. There are dogs who have survived histo and Lola WILL be one of them. She is such a fighter. Her kidneys look great. Wow, what else. She is eating and drinking on her own today. We are feeding chicken and rice. We are taking this day by day. As you can see its not a simple fix because you need to treat everything that pops up. They had to shave her bum because the diarhea is really burning that area and it just drips out, We are treating this with neo. Your prayers are felt and I so appreciate everyone of you. |

| ![]() Just got a call from the specialist, Lola had to go this morning because she has developed an infection around her anal area. Very Painful, She became very sick last night. They took her blood today and Her Albumin level is UP....2.4 today they also did a cytology on her anal skin and it does not have histoplasmosis or any other bact. So thats good. She is eating and drinking on her own just having major poop area issues. My little Lola is such a fighter, I think we can beat this. Your Prayers are so appreciated. Can anyone suggest a good ecollar that will not allow her to chew this area? |

| ![]() Check with your vet first, but a blocking agent such as zinc oxide, preparation H ointment, may help lessen the irritation/damage to the tissue.
