Gracie is sick with elevated enzymes and bacteria in her stool

And thank you Debbie for all of the wonderful information. Unfortunately, I'm just now seeing it as I had to work all day. Luckily my job is flexible enough that I can ocassionally work from home, so I was able to feed Gracie every 2 hours. But, yikes, I have been feeding her the i/d.

I believe he prescribed the chlorpromazine for any nausea she might be experiencing (even though she has not vomited), and I think as a sedative for any pain she is experiencing.

I do have an update. Gracie seems to be feeling better. No more loose stools, and she even played with Toby a little today. Last night was real hard on her because she was hungry, but I couldn't give her anything. Poor baby...

It has been 3 months since I originally posted this, but I wanted to come on here and give you an update on what I have found out since that time. A few weeks ago, I received an email from Nature's Variety that stated that some of their raw food had been tainted with salmonella. Well, come to find out we had a bag of medallions that was tainted. And that is the reason that Gracie was sick. Fortunately, Toby never got sick; I guess being younger and stronger, his body must have been able to fight it off.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know. Both of my yorkies loved the stuff, and even though they are now using some new process that will prevent this from happening, I'm afraid to try NV again. I am currenty feeding them Wellness, but they are not nearly as excited as they were before at mealtime.

thanks for updating us yeah too many things can go wrong with the raw in my opinion if you are not making it yourself - it can go wrong at facility, in transport if the freezer breaks down, or at the pet store their freezer breaks down as they will not want to throw out thousands of dollars in food this is why petco does not carry raw as i asked the manager and he said they do not want to be responsible for if something goes bad and too many chances something can go bad with raw so not willing to risk it

so sorry this happened and i am so glad you figured out what the cause was as that is half the battle and the not knowing is always a killer
