baby yorkie has to have eye removed
 

Please pray for my 10 week old yorkie, I gave her to my girlfriend in ATL a week ago everything was going great, then i got a call saying that the puppy had something wrong with her eye. MY girlfrieng took her to the vet, and they said the the puppy had scratched her eye really bad, and it was infected so bad that they could not save her eye. I'm so hurt behind this, I don't know what to do, my girlfrind doesn't have money to pay for babies medical bills, which is going to be around 2000.00 Please pray for me :confused:!! Thanks

She is doing a little better, with the help of pain meds. I can't get much done until tomorrow. We are checking with the humane society of ATL. I was told the it would be a a little cheaper, if i went with them to remove the baby's eye.

did you try ohio state vet school? it is in columbus

I would have, but I gave the puppy to my girlfriend in ATL. She is haveing a hard time coming up with 2000.00 dollors to remove the pups eye. I may end up going to get her, if she doesn't come up with money or help.

A scratch to the eye that is infected? Is the puppy on antibiotics for the infection? I don't know the whole story behind your puppy, but I think I would look at another opinion on the eye before I opted to have it removed. Either way, I would say time is very important here.

I am wondering how long your GF has had the puppy and how the eye became so infected that is needs to be removed. Could you have purchased him with a scratched cornea? Was he looked at by your vet when you brougth him home? If he had a scratched cornea when you purchased him wouldn't your contract with the breeder cover the cost of the surgery? If I were you I would contact the breeder that you purchased the puppy from to see if there is any way this would be covered by your contract.

I just went back and reread your post and pretty much answered my own question about how long she had the puppy. There is no way that the eye could have become so infected in a week that it needs to be removed. You need to contact the breeder about this ASAP!

Ok~I just went back and looked over your previous posts. Are YOU the breeder? :confused: You posted on 10/14 that you had a litter of puppies so I am assuming that you gave your GF a puppy from that litter at 9 weeks old :eek:

It is your responsibility as the breeder to pay for the surgery AND vetting of your puppy. This is all part of being a responsible breeder.

Furthermore, as a responsible breeder you need to take responsibility for the people that you allow your puppies to be homed to and if your GF does not have the financial capability to properly vet a puppy that she has had for only a week then you need to take her back and do take responsibility for this puppy's life and wellbeing.

Also, let me add that if you gave her this puppy at 9 weeks old it was even more irresponsible to allow one of your puppies to leave the litter that early.

I read your posts how you asked questions about dew claws and tail docking but truth be told you should have followed the #1 rule of the long standing members that are reputable and never allow a puppy to leave their mothers until at least 12 to 14 weeks old.

There was another member who took back a sick puppy that had LS and had the surgery done to save her life.
