| ![]() Oh and he lost some weight... last vet visit a few months back, he was 12.5lbs. Now the scale said he was 11.7lbs! I don't know if some weight loss is from not eating as much lately or what... but he didn't need to lose weight, he's already a skinny thing, lol.

| ![]() I am sorry that I did not see this thread earlier. I sure am pleased to hear that it was not on the serious side and that he is already feeling better on the meds!! Was hard to watch Jackson in the video - will look forward to a more 'active' one in the future!! We pray for a speedy and complete recovery!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Wow...so glad you got a diagnosis...and what a surprise it is...and an odd "relief" in a way, in terms of it not being LP etcetera. Give the fella a hug for us. So great he is already feeling better. ![]()

| ![]() Brit - I just now saw this post (I must have been hiding under my rock the past few days). When I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be a video of Jackson doing his new limp trick. I am so sorry to read that he took ill but very happy that a diagnosis was made and the fact that he seems to be recovering already. I wish a speedy recovery to him!

| ![]() [QUOTE=Britster;2931260]I will definitely do my research ![]() ![]() Yes...Lymes is bad here in MD which could be why my vet did not make it seem like an optional shot. There are a lot of deer here where I live in Montgomery County. But she did say the Lepto was optional..and I did not get that series for either of my dogs. Max had NO problems with the Lymes vaccines. Mickey gets sore so he gets a Benedryl shot before hand now. I guess it depends where in the US you live. I am just happy that it was caught early in Jackson. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Wow, who knew!!!...I'm so glad he's responding well to the meds...Maybe since he has to be a little chilled out for a week, he'll put on a little weight too...Must have been really a stretch for you, w/the vet, the wedding, and all at the same time...Bless your heart...Hope you two are out romping and playing soon...Just wondering, did the vet suggest the lyme vaccine, or is that just something you feel you should do? |

| ![]() I'm so glad he's doing better already! FYI: I don't give mine Lymes or Lepto Vaccine as Lymes is easily treated with antibiotics, (may test for it yearly though, money better spent) and too many reports of the dangers of giving small dogs Lepto Vac. My vet said it wasn't a threat in this area and wasn't recommended. And no dental vac or giardia vac....too new on the market and longterm problems not documented yet.

Yeah, I never give Jackson Lepto after he had a reaction as a puppy. I think vets are wayyy over-vaccinating our dogs so I'm picky & choosy with what he gets and what I think is necessary. He doesn't even get bordatella. The new vet I saw yesterday didn't really suggest the Lymes shot, she just asked if he had had it. She's calling me on Thursday to check up and I will ask about it then. I'll probably end up not getting it. As long as I keep Jackson on K9 Advantix, he should be OK. He had sooo many ticks while on Frontline and I'm sure that's when/how he got infected. On a positive note, I'm glad I found a vet that I like better and am switching to. ![]()

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() Oh no, I'm just seeing this! (Actually, I'm kinda glad -- at least I know there's a happy ending!) The limping reminded me so much of Eddie's ACL issues that I would have gotten you worried about all the wrong things. Thankfully, you found a great vet. Amazing that the meds seem to be working so quickly! That's gotta be a good sign. I Googled, and it said the sooner you get treatment the better. I'm so glad your vet figured it out so quickly. Please let us know how his recovery goes! We can't have a trick star out of action!

| ![]() Years ago when Chipper got Lyme Disease it was about 10 days after getting the vaccination. Following year again Chipper got the Lyme shot and again got Lyme shortly after. The third year the same thing happened and I said never again would he be vaccinated for Lyme. Chipper lived to be 13 years and never got Lyme again. We live within a few miles of Lyme, Ct where the disease originated so we do have a lot of deer ticks in our area but my vet will not vaccinate any small breed. They just have too many severe side effects from the vaccine.
