If Sasha has a reg vet that you take her to, they can contact UT and send them a copy of the results for review and for a referal (if needed). I don't think Dr. Tobias takes random phone calls, and she has been out of town alot latley, but all the folks at UT are very helpful, and have been trained by her. You type Ronlynn's name or Teddi Liver Shunt in the search field here. It will pull up previous posts by her and take you to her page. Good luck with Sasha. How can I tell, from the scintigraphy, that her shunt is operable? and what kind it is?

due to age she only will have one shunt they get multiple shunts if you let it go and it blows out into more shunts as the body will adapt to the shunt by making more if not corrected at a young age.

for ex another person on here i helped his dog was 4 and had 3 or 4 shunts as the dog was older had no signes and got bladder stones which is a sign of liver issue and they did bats and he had multiple shunts when dr tobias opened him up so she had to close him up and could not repair him :(

my vet called me and said she reviewed it. Sasha has one extrahepatic shunt. Now I just need to make out all the plans to whether or not go to TN

ok that is good you have some answers and i would definitely have tobias do it if she were mine but you have to make that decision for yourself and i wish you the best of luck and glad you have a diagnosis

My AWESOME DAD and I have agreed that we will try to have Sasha's liver shunt surgery the last week of May 2010/ first week of June 2010 at the University of Tennessee. I am in the process of setting up an appointment for Sasha. I am so lucky to have such an awesome and loving dad, :D

UT is wonderful to our babies and to us. You will not be sorry for bringing her to Tennessee. When you get the dates confirmed, I can try to get you reduced motel room rates if you would like. I may could get you a room for free, but cannot promise until I know the dates, but I know I can get employee rates at any Holiday Inn Express (if they are not sold out). and let me know if this would be something that you would be interested in.
