| ![]() I wasn't going to post but after reading some of the OPs posts and doing a little quick research on cougar/mountain lion attacks on dogs as well as my own experience in TN with large cats (mainly bobcats, but there are a few cougars in some areas in TN), I don't see how this could be true. Yes, a cougar could leave a smaller mark on a dog, but I doubt it on a Yorkie, even if they are tough. I found several stories, including one about a German Shepherd that was killed by a cougar. I couldn't find any that dealt with smaller dogs. And the ones I did find and the few pictures that I found were all dogs with thick fur, and according to the info posted with the pictures, that is part of what saved them. And Yorkies, whether cottony or silky, don't seem to have very thick fur. Also, cougars aren't always scared of people; one story I read of an attack in Wyoming said the cougar started to back off but then suddenly charged and attacked a man. As far as personal experience goes, we used to raise rabbits and horses. When we sold all our horses (which were in the same pasture as the rabbit hutch) and still had the rabbits, it wasn't long before they were killed by a bobcat. The rabbits that weren't taken off were ripped horribly. Sorry, but just from what I was able to see within a few minutes online and from my own personal experience, I just don't see how this could be true. ![]() |

| ![]() Lions Tiger and Bears oh my................ knowing you have these wild animals around your home why would you let a little dog outside at night alone for such a long time with it being so cold. you also said you had other dogs have they been attack as well? I really have a hard time believing this happen. we also have 3 labs a jack russell and 2 yorkies and a lot of wild animals around our place mostly foxes, coyotes, and a swamp cat that romes the area at certain times of the year knowing this we do not let the small dogs out at night alone. thats just common sense in my mind.
