| Flopping Ear on 14 month old Yorkie My 14 month old yorkie has always had ears that stand up and today after rubbing himself on the carpet, as he usually does in the morning, one ear is flopping completely over to the side. It seems that most yorkies with floppy ears tend to bend half way down the ear but Jack's is flopping completely to the side. Occasionally it will stand up but then flop over again. I called the on-call vet (as it is Sunday and my usual vet is not in) and he said not to be too concerned unless he seemed to be in pain. He does not appear to be in any pain at all. He's just seems to look a little confused, I could imagine that it must feel funny! Also his ears are actually very large and have always been shaved. When he was groomed last the groomer suggested that we not shave them to see if he would have tassles. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with it although I am doubtful. Any information would be appreciated! |

| Have you checked to see if he has an ear infection? It would be smelly and you should be able to see inside if it is red or swollen. Ears will flop when there is an infection.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pixie's one ear flopped when she was almost 3 and was flopped for months then went back up and now is flopping again. I think getting some of the fringe hair off will help. I am going to do that today see if it helps.

| I did just check his ear and it seems to be fine...no redness and it's not smelly..actually his ear seems to be standing back up! He goes to the vet on Thursday for shots so I'll have him checked then. Thank you for the info though. |
