Totally upset my yorkie's got bit eye came out I am in a state of shock. I cook food my yorkies but I have a few that are on a diet so I take them out of the room where I feed them and they run the rest of the house. Anyway we were all eating dinner and my older yorkie Harley was eating her food. We have a rescue lab named Candy who we have had for over 7 years walks over to where Harley is eating. Harley growls at her and the lab snaps back. Next thing I no Harley has blood coming out of her eye and it pops out. I grab her try and hold things together while my husband is calling the vet and my daughter is getting herself together to rush us to the hospital. When we arrived at the vet they immediately took Harley in the back and started sedating her. I was passing out and was covered in blood shaking so bad screaming every time I looked at her eye. They are now doing surgery trying to put the eye back in and hopefully it will work. The vet said if not they are going to have to take it back out OMG! My poor baby what a nightmare. That food bowl has been sitting there the whole time that lab has been here and we have never had a problem. Those 2 dogs were hours before laying on the sofa together. Please pray for my baby to be ok. |
omg i'm so sorry you are going thru this. I will keep your furbaby in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated!! |
O my!! I pray everything works out! |
Thanks I can't stop crying I miss her so much I wish I could be with her but they won't let me see her till morning. I have slept with her beside me for over 10 years it is going to be a very long night for us both. |
Oh my god, that's awful! Good luck getting through the night and get a good nights sleep so you can take god care of her when she gets back from the doctor tomorrow. :( |
Oh no! I hope she is ok! |
Gosh, I hope and pray that the Drs will be able to save her sight in that eye! Poor little thing. It was probably not done deliberately. Larger dogs sometimes don't realize the size differences, just as smaller dogs don't realize how small they really are. Please keep us informed of what is happening, and may God Bless.:animal-pa |
OMG that is so horrible! I will pray for you and your baby! Keep us posted! |
Wow! I am praying all will be well with the eyes and god will guide that surgeon's hands. Hang in there and keep us updated! |
I hope they are able to save it. poor baby. you never know when things like this will happen between dogs. we had a pek years ago him and another stray was play chasing each other around the table, he turned and ran right into the leg of the table or chair and out popped his eye, we drove him to the vet that was right down the street , but the vet would not take him in, by the time we got him to another vet the eye had died. it could not be saved. he did do fine with the one eye, but I felt so sorry for him. |
I hope that everything will work out. I am so sorry. |
chester and I are sending you yorkie hugs to you and the fur kid, I hope all is okay and you will have your baby back with you soon, keep us posted |

I am praying her eye can be saved and she makes a full recovery. Hugs |
Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. I had EXACTLY the same thing happen when my poodle was about a year old. He was actually taking something away from my grandparents' German Shepherd though. The GS let this go on for a little while - back and forth - but then finally snapped at Dax (my poodle). He barely punctured a spot right above Daxton's eye and the eye was hanging out. Freaked us out to no end so I know exactly how you're feeling. Rushed him to our regular vet and he put the eye back in and said it was just a matter of time before we'd know if there was nerve damage. Well a week or so later it could be seen that the eye was damaged and not going to "live". At that time we took him to the Texas A&M vet hospital and he was given a prosthetic eye. It was either that or sew it shut and I just couldn't do that to him at such a young age. What they did was (short version) take out the eyeball, scoop out the insides of it and then fill the "casing" with a prosthetic material. Then it was put back in. By the time the surgery was done, the eye had shrunk just a tiny bit but that wasn't all that noticeable afterwards. The color of the eye did change though. It was grey from then on - looked like he had a cataract on that eye. I tell you all this so you know what your options are. Dax had his eye examined once since the surgery when he was about 8 or 9 years old just to check up on it but he lived to be a ripe old 16 years old and being blind in one eye never did bother him. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. I'll tell you whatever I can remember if it will help you. Good luck! I'll be thinking of ya'll!! |
I am so sorry. I am praying your baby has a full recovery. |
Oh my...I'm praying it all works out for her eye. Poor sweet baby. I can;t imagine how sad and terrified you must be, I will pray her daily. How awful. Have you heard anything from the hospital yet?? HUGE Hugs and Kisses- Snick & Viv |
I hope your baby pulls throw this and the eye is okay. :( |
Just wanted to send you my prayers and peace in your heart!!! |
How is little Harley today? How are you? That sounds traumatic :( I am so sorry. |
Sorry to hear bout Harley. I hope her eye can be saved. You just never know what Candy may have been thinking. I hope Harley is back home soon and makes a full recovery. |
Oh my! I\'m so sorry! I hope the vet is able to save his eye! |
I am so sorry! I have actually heard this same story too many times, where a larger dog snaps at a toy breed dog over a food bowl or treat. In just about every case, it has been the smaller dog that started it, but they are no match for a larger dog. I hope they can save her eye. |
I\'m so sorry this happened our prayers are with you. |
