| Maggie is sick! I have a 3 year old lady who has started vomiting thick foamy sputum with yellow clumps. It looks like the mucus that comes out when a person with a cold blows their nose. She has done this about 4 times this evening. I have not seen this before tonight in her and she is eating, drinking and eliminating normally for her. I have recently moved from New York to Southern Alabama and wonder if the change in weather may have to much for her lungs and she may have developed an allergy or maybe the beginning of an URI or pneumonia. Can any one offer me some help. I live in a very rural community and there is no emergency vet or hopital close. If it were during the week I would take her to the vets, which I will do on Monday. Please help me. I am worried about her. I wonder if I should keep her seperate from the other babies that live with me?

YT 3000 Club Member | I would just keep an eye on her and take her to the vet asap, it could a uri or maybe pneumonia, I would not think the moving could do it, does she have any other health issues, has anything else changed, does she seem short of breath. I wonder about the dog flu, the symptoms dont seem quite right for that. I would make sure she keeps drinking good and she is eating so that is good as well. hope she is okay |

| Thank you so much for the advice. I have kept a close eye on her and keep checking her for fever. There have been no further vomiting today but several episodes through the night. She eats and drinks. When I listen to her lungs she sounds clear on one side but rubs on the other. I'm taking her to the vet on moday. Will keep you posted

| When mine have gotten sick I have given them 1/3 of a tablet of Malox. It helps with the acid and vomiting. The only contraindications for use that I know of with small animals are: if your dog has any kind of kidney disorder, and if your pup is pregnant. I usually crush it in my fingers and let them lick it off. This is a good stand-by, but I definitely would see the vet. Hope this helps |

| Update on Maggie First I would like to thank those that responded to my plea. It was greatly appreciated and I have started my own little first aid kit for my babies. Now the vet says she doesn't have pneumonia. He thinks that she may have gotten into something that did not agree with her. She has had no firther vomiting, no diahrrea, no fever. She is eating and drinking. He said to keep a close eye on her when we are out in the yard. I'm so thankful that it wasn't anything serious. Guess I was just an over anxious mother. Thanks so much again for all your help.
