When mine have gotten sick I have given them 1/3 of a tablet of Malox.
It helps with the acid and vomiting.
The only contraindications for use that I know of with small animals are: if your dog has any kind of kidney disorder, and if your pup is pregnant.

I usually crush it in my fingers and let them lick it off. This is a good stand-by, but I definitely would see the vet.
