| Kennel cough or something else?? I have read the posts on here about kennel cough and collapsed trachea and am not sure what is going on with Rebel. Rebel is 3 1/2 months old, we went away for the weekend and Rebel stayed at home with my daughter, she told me on Friday night he started coughing, hacking, gagging a few times when he went to bed that night. She said she doesn't remember him doing it on Saturday night. We came home yesterday afternoon and he was in the kitchen and started doing, I didn't think much of it just thought he perhaps he had a little something stuck and got it out. That is when she told me he did this Friday night. When we went to bed last night, he started doing it again, almost like a wheeze, honk, gag, retch and then it stops. He did this about three times perhaps about 15 mins to 1/2 hour and then stopped and slept form midnight to 6:00 am and then did it again about 3 times. When he is up, he is fine, he runs, he plays, he aggravates his mommy and he is eating fine. He was at the vets on September 30th and did received his bordatella vaccine. Also, the rest of my furbabies also get the vaccine, they have no coughs or anything. They have not been by any other dogs. I did read that the incubation time for kennel cough is 2 to 14 days, does it sound like he could have contacted this at the vet's? Thoughts??? I am going to also call my vet and see what he thinks.

to me it sounds more like the kennel cough. I did talk to the vet and they said sometimes just like when you get a flu vaccine they can have an episode and to watch him over the next couple of days. As long as he is still eating and being active that is a good thing. If it gets worse or does not improve I will need to bring him in. It is always so scary when your babies don't feel right.

YT Addict | My pup is doing that same thing right now and has for for a good couple of days, and I'd be almost incline to say a week. I'd say the kennel cough or the influenza. Similar, but I couldn't distinguish. Derby is just about 4 months old. |

I just read your posts. How is Derby doing? Rebel sounded better last night, only coughed a few times. this is the only symptom he has though no other. Eating and playing fine, eye's look good not yuckie's coming from his nose. He had the bordatella vaccine on the 30th of September so the time frame fits. We don't take him outside much but when we do it's only in our backyard for a few minutes. We did take him for one walk but it was a pretty nice day out. It is starting to get cold here also. I was told to watch him for a couple of days and if no improvement or if he gets worse i was to bring him in.

| Thank you so much for this message. I have a new puppy Buster Brown. He is my first dog and has been coughing since I brought him home. He is on his 2nd round of antibiotics and I was afraid it might be a collapsed trachea. After listening to the video's it seems like kennel cough. He is under vet supervision but I am just so concerned. Your post really helped. |

| It sounds like kennel cough to me. Kennel cough is a big problem this year,. They can catch it anywhere. It is airborne so they can get it walking through the vets office. The good news is, that it is not serious in a healthy dlog. It will run it's course in 1 to 3 weeks. |
