How is the kitten? You might want to post in breeer section...
Are you keeping the kitten warm?

Keep it warm. get it some nutri-cal for kittens and keep feeding it the kitten milk every few hours.make sure you take it slow not to feed to much at once for it to choke/drown from it. make sure you help it to potty by taking a warm wet cloth and rubbing its bottom like the mother cat would do by licking it there, it will keep them peeing and pooping like they should.

he seems to be doing much better!! when i got him, he was lethargic. i fed him twice and gave him water. i had went to the store and when i got home he was crying! i tried to make him poo or pee, but haven't got him to do it yet.. kinda gettin worried.. but do you think he might not be going because he was so hungry and thirsty when i found him? his eyes look pretty bad, i was doing some reading and i think he might have chlamydia in them. poor lil guy.. i hope he pulls through. so far he's doing well. what do you think about the poo/peeing?

If he is really that young he will not need water yet. You will need to get a kitten bottle fro m pet co and add about2-3 oz of formula. Warm up the formula and test it on your fore arm prior to feeding it to the kitten. When you feed the kitten make sure the kitten is eatting while on it's tummy. If you feed it on it's back like a human baby it can choke or get formula in it's lungs. After each feeding take a warm cotten ball and stroke the genitals until it pees and poops. Since he has not eliminated for a while it make take a little longer. Make sure you keep it warm and feed it about every 2-3 hrs. I don't live to far from you if you want to pm me I could explain more. I have hand raised several litters. Good luck

I bottle fed a whole litter of abandoned kittens last fall... I hated the bottles you can buy... it was so hard and they didnt work as well as they should... I got a syringe from the vet but any medicine syringe works well. also please remember not to hold him on his back when your feeding him that is very dangerous. The vet told me about 1cc about four times a day or feed him til they quit eating. Get a warm wash cloth and wipe him down after every feeding.... sometimes they end up getting runny stools with a change in milk so make sure you wash his bottom with baby shampoo (then blowdry on low) keeps them from being cold. I also prepared them a box with a nice fleecey blanket. After you put it to sleep it helps to cover the box alil with a towel so it cannot see you walk by... otherwise your gonna hear meow meoww meow a lot lol because you become momma! its very cute though Also I wouldn't use this all the time but incase you run out of milk and cannot get to the store this is an emergency formula i used... but it would be best to give him the pet store kind. This is just for emergencies. I hope this helps I know its scary when their life depends on you... good luck and if you have any questions feel free to message me. I am not a pro at this but this is what i did. again goodluck!

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup evaporated milk
2 Tablespoons Karo white syrup
1 beaten egg yolk
2 Tablespoons cod liver oil, baby vitamins, or kitten vitamins.

thanks everyone so much!! i just fed him again. i was holding him and he was meowing.. i put the milk in a tiny bowl and he vigorously ate! it was so cute.. he drank it himself, he had a bit of a hard time getting to the milk instead of the edges.. but i helped and he did fine! and then, i got him to pee!! no poop, i tried for a while too.. i'l try again soon. im most likely gonna take him to the vet tomorrow, i can't really afford it right now but im gonna try the humane society, they've always been good to me and my pets.

anyone have any experience with cat chlamydia?

Thats great that he can eat on his own! I have never heard of that...I hope everything will be fine with him. I know it was hard for me when I had that whole litter ... feeding them all individually and also my two little kids and my yorkies lol... it was getting to be a bit much but I'm glad i did it. Saving an animals life is a very good thing

saving a life is an awesome thing... according to the things i have read, he is just at 4 weeks old. he has tiny teeth and now that he is getting stronger, he has shown me he can move around a little, he's still a bit wobbly though. one thing... im not looking forward to hearing meowing in the middle of the night!!

just wanted to give an update.. kitty got some eye meds yesterday. her eyes are looking SO much better already! also, he's been walking around the house in between sleeping.. and he peed on his own today. lastly, he had to poo SOO bad, but couldn't get it out, oh and he got de-wormed yesterday too.. so, i had to step in and help. this was the first poo for him. it was so bad.. i felt like we were performing surgery on the poor thing!.. we ended up getting a little fat on out.. he's now resting comfortably.. i'm so glad and excited about how well he's doing.. i surely thought he was going to die... next thing is to get a negative feline leukemia test...

Bellbuzz,

You're doing great! I am so glad you were able to get some meds for the kitten's eyes.
I was going to suggest a small saucer instead of a bowl to put the food in, perhaps it might be able to get to it more easily, but if what you are doing is working, don't change it.

A warm moist wash cloth is my next suggestion to help "wash" him like his mommy would. His face and all over just like a cat needs to. Then make sure he is not wet and dry him good, then comb him out. He will enjoy it and it will help bond him and perhaps he may learn to do this for himself too when he gets older.

Check for fleas too, they can kill a baby kitten or puppy. If you found it wondering in a field, it will most likely have them.

Mom cats will move their babies around to keep them safe. They move them one by one untill all the babies are in the new place. So keep an eye peeled for a momma cat wondring around in that field, mewing for a lost baby.

Good luck!
