Default Diarreah, Runny Stools What can I give?

Gucci has had diarreah for 2 days now and it's driving me insane. SO GROSS!!! ... He has had all of his beds and blankets washed 3X's now and I keep having to bleach the floors where he's ex-penned at ( ex-penned once again only for diarreah now lol)

He woke up the other day with softer than usual Stool and it turned to diarreah later that day. It's not water diarreah but very very soft stool and definately slightly runny. There is no significance in color, if he eats it's lighter if not it's darker but not black and not yellow.

He is going back to the vet this week to test for parasites again, because I can't think of anything else it could be

He has NOT Gotten into anything
He IS Eating and Drinking like a piggy
He is NOT Lethargic and still playing normally and sleeping normally.. I just don't get it.

Anyway, what can or should I give him to harden his stool back up for now. Thank so much and Hugs everyone!!

when dd has this i use 2 dds plus capsules it is a non-dairy probiotic you get it from the vitamin shop and i use that on a plate and she licks it up 30 min before she eats as it should be on an empty stomach. If that does not work or he will not lick off plate as u open capsules on plate and he licks then you can mix with a 1/4 tsp of organic pumpkin from whole foods and give on empty stomach - works like a charm as if you give yogurt some dogs are lactose intolerant and makes them have more diarhea if so

I am still feeding his usual Innova Puppy... today he got white rice and pumpkin... the stools look to be forming again but they are still "mushy" There has to be something wrong with him. Either Irritable Bowel, or something.. His fecals are always clear and they were clear when he had the vomiting episode (a few weeks ago) so I just don't understand, the way it smells.. is like a Smell you get when there are worms or a parasite.

This has been 2 days with diarreah, I wasn't home when it started.. he had a hard stool.. I left and came back later that evening to a MESS. His little bottom is red from going so much and scooting and I just feel so so bad for him right now. He has been going less today but it's still not hard how I would like it to be.

Does this sound like anythng in particular to you? he just has these random episodes of vomiting mostly but the diarreah is a first for us.

Manina - Gucci has an appt later this week. He is doing fine otherwise, so it's not an IMMEDIATE concern as he has gastric problems all the time. It's just a mess to deal with

Scooting usually is a problem with the anal sacs. Has anyone checked them?

Aw poor Gucci, I'd try some more pumpkin it worked for Juicy when she was having Diarreah. I gave her a little the first time and it was more formed so I gave her a tiny bit more and the next time she went everything was back to normal.
Juicy and I send our love.

yeah sounds like ibd to me -- what is the protein in innova chicken? as that can be the culprit - diarhea is inflammation of large intestine and vomitting is inflammation in small so sounds like he is having issues with both -- has giardia been ruled out as that can be hard to detect- but if no blood in diarhea probably ibd issue these dogs have very sensitive stomachs and sometimes chicken can upset and so can white potato diets

You are alwys such a great help and very informative. Here are the ingredients for the Innova Puppy :

Turkey, Chicken, Chicken Meal, Ground Barley, Ground Brown, Rice, Cottage Cheese, Tomatoes, Hemp Oil, Chicken Fat, Flaxseed, Whole Steamed Potatoes, Herring, Whole Raw Apples, Whole Raw Carrots, Alfalfa sprouts, Whole Eggs, Garlic, Dicalcium Phosphate, dl-Alpha Tocopherol, Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbate), Probiotics & Vitamins/Minerals

I think it's IBD as well. Do I need the vet to test him for this when we go in or do they rely on symptoms to make a decision? If I do need to have him tested do I just tell her I want him tested for IBD or is there something specific I need to request. What do I feed him if is IBD anything certain? Right now I have Pumpkin and Rice tomorrow I am going to go out and get the Stuff you had recommended earlier.

There is also Potato in the Innova so it could be both. As far as IBD goes, does it just come on suddenly or could the vomiting etc. he's had in the past been episodes as well? thanks again for all your help!

Anal Sac Disorder
Hi LadyJane, his anal sacks are fine... he was scooting because he had a lil something stuck there I just gave him a bath and he's good to go now.

Dwerten - I was considering Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance / Duck & Potato but the Potato could be a problem correct? Their only other alternative is Sweet Potato and Fish

Hey girl, I hate that the Guc is sick AGAIN!!

We went through these GI upsets for months and months and months with Ranger. He was also on Innova. After ER visits, fluids, tons of Pepto (which works amazingly well, BTW), we figured out that he has a food intolerance to turkey. We switched his food to something sans turkey last September, and only have had a few problems since, once when I accidentally fed him something with turkey in it, and another when he had surgery, which was unrelated.

I feel for ya, and for poor baby-boy. These problems are no fun for anyone.

Awe Amanda thank you! I am sure you know how i am feeling since lil ranger has had the same issues. I am going to run all this by the vet, because I'd really just want to get to the bottom of this.

It could be the Turkey or Chicken, I believe that the Adult has a bit more of those ingredients and this all started when I switched him to adult quickly because our local store ran out of puppy ( they are the only store that carries it) Ever since then it seems just little problems and now this.
I just don't know what to feed in the meantime as I really don't like feeding him rice and pumpkin all the time

there really is no test other than scoping the intestines but that has its risks - ims said they are seeing dogs with ibd testing high on spec cpli test with no pancreatic symptoms so you can do spec cpli test but honestly i would get on a different diet as the turkey, chicken and white potato i think are doing him in. You may want to try natural balance venison and sweet potato as it is limited ingredient food - my boy is on purina ha as he was pretty severe. Now surprising he can handle chicken and rice foods so you could try newman's own organic and you can get from whole foods or target and i think walmart sells it as he ate my maltese food as i screwed up and he did ok on it and did not get sick which is rare as he gets sick fast on anything but i would probably try the venison and sweet potato for 12 weeks and see how he does as sweet potato is not inflammatory like white potato as it is from a different night shade family and if he does not do well on that i would do a diet with rice in it and give the newman's own a shot as well even if it has chicken as it is a high grain diet which may work for him.
