| Recovery from diarrhea I am just wondering how long it takes the system to get back to normal. Toby was vomiting and had diarrhea on Sunday and Monday. I took him to the vet on Tuesday. He got an antibiotic injection, and a probiotic paste to line his stomach. He was not to be fed on Tuesday to allow the paste to line his stomach. His first feed was 5.30am this morning. I have been giving him boiled rice, chicken and probiotic yogurt every 2-3 hours (little and often). It is now 7.30pm and he had not had a bowel movement since diarrhea on Monday night. Is this normal, I hope he isnt constipated now?! He is behaving normally in every other way.

| My Pix had diarrhea about 3 weeks ago, and the vet prescribed antibiotics. From the day she had the last bowel movement, it took her almost 5 days to have the next. Don't worry, I called my vet with the same concern as yours, and she told me it takes a few days for anything new to be formed in their digestive systems. I also fed her rice and boiled chicken for as long as she was on the antibiotics. Hope your baby recovers in no time! |
