| Help!!! Keoki swallowed a whole treat!!! My neighbor gave Keoki a treat - a rawhide kind and he swallowed the whole thing whole and started swallowing and swallowing- I came home and gave him some cottage cheese and olive oil but am watching him- Will this disintegrate??? Is there anything I should do??? Should I look for any signs of obstruction?? I'm worried.... I would appreciate any input- thanks |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | If the piece was bigger than you think he can safely pass I would watch closely for any signs of a blockage, ie, vomiting, not pooping, walking hunched over, and gethim to the vet asap. Rawhide is not easily digested. I hope he will pass it with no problems. My Cali passed this hugh piece of a latex toy that I never thought she would be able to.

| Thank you so much Patti- I was not sure of what the symptoms of blockage would be- I personally never give him rawhide but my neighbor gave him this dried meat sort of thing that seemed on the big side- I will keep a close eye on him because he was definitely acting strange so will make sure he goes to the bathroom in the am- he has not vomited- thank you so much for the information you gave me- I really appreciate it. |

| id like to add my 2 cents here.. some dogs tend to poop even if they have something stuck in their intestine..it really depends on where it is stuck and how big it is.. i.e: my puppy had a piece of edible treat (nylabone) stuck in his intestine last week, he did vomit but he also pooped . he did eat and drink but i knew something was very wrong when he didnt wanna play, he didnt "look" like himself. my advice is just to keep a close eye on him. louis didnt show signs til' the next day. good luck and i hope nothing happens to ur baby.

| I had a cocker who swallowed a large piece of rawhide once and had to take him to the vet to have them dissolve it. I could tell he was in distress because his stomach was very hard and he just was not feeling well. He was also in pain. |

| i know how the worrying feels , trust me . well.. i gave him the "treat" on sunday night and monday morning he vomited. at this point he was still running around...playing like nothing was wrong..so i thought it was the food change ( i had just started switching him from natures recipe to innova). tuesday morning i noticed he was vomiting white foam.. at this point he wasnt playing anymore...just laying down looking depressed . thats when i panicked... i rushed to the vet and she had some x rays done and then she showed me where the piece was stuck and she put him on i.v's . she also had some blood tsts done . he stayed there the whole day on observation..i took him home that day and brought him back in the morning of thursday. that day ...she told me that if he didnt poop it out until wednesday (tomorrow) he would have to have it removed by a surgery. of course i was freaked out he had just gotten neutered 2 weeks ago..i was so scared but to make this looooong story a little shorter... 500 dollars later... he ended up pooping it. she gave him some meds...so it could help loosen up the piece. i was lucky though..sometimes surgery is required but please dont panic with my story. i really hope your baby doesnt go through this. it is stressing and i know how you feel but lets hope your baby doesnt have any problems passing it. good luck and i hope i helped a bit.
