| Excessive panting My Lulu is 11 years old and our sweety pie! I worry my husband constantly about her excessive panting. Is it hard on her heart? Her chest just pounds so hard. She has a short cut, because she can't stand the heat. She's overweight, but we can't cut her food down any more. She eats 1/2 cut of Science diet + chicken breast in the morning and same at night. She is not tiny. Has 2-3 dried chicken breast treats a day. Hardly any exercise in the summer, because of the heat. We need to move North! Do you think she is in danger? |

| You might want to take her to the vet. Panting could be caused by many things, being over heated, over weight, heart failure, and more. Prayers are said that she is okay!!!! |

| I'm sorry to hear this. Poor girl. Please have the excessive panting checked by your vet. Also, you can cut her food back a bit. One thing I've tried is replacing some of it with cooked green beans. They are lower in fat/calories. Being overweight can't be helping. Best of luck to you and your girl!

| If you'd like a comparison on the amount someone else feeds....I have 2 almost 5 lb. Yorkies and they get 1/8 c. Wellness in the morning and evening. My 8 lb. Pommies get a scant 1/4 c. per meal. of Wellness. Have you had her checked for congestive heart failure? Collapsing trachea? I am so sorry that your little Yorkie is feeling so miserable. Hope your vet can come up with a solution for your furbaby.

| I am a vet asst you need to go have x-rays ASAP if you can this sounds like heart failure your pooch prob. has alot of fluid on the chest, heart and it is stressing they can put your baby on meds to help get the fluid off and help the panting and give a longer life good luck. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You should also mention Cushing's Disease to your vet bc of the excessive panting and weight gain. Is the weight gain like a pot belly? Is there fur loss? Excess drinking/peeing?
