| Dooie is Constipated! Any suggestions.....? He hasn't gone in 2 days and keeps dragging his bum along the carpet for comfort I guess.... I think I should give him something that will get things moving along. I have heard of giving your dog "Pedialite" (which is like a laxative juice for children) but I do not want to just wing it. Does anybody have an idea? |

| Give him some canned pumpkin. It is a regulator and is good for both diahrea and constipation

| You can sprinkle Metamucil on his food. The vet suggested 1/2 teaspoon per day for Sadie and she weighs 6lbs. Get the unflavored/plain metamucil they don't like the orange flavored but she loves the plain. |

My furkids Donating Member | I had this problem with Lillie last night. All of a sudden she bounced right back to being herself...She pooped this morning just fine..I didn't even have to give her the pumpkin....has he been checked for worms? sometimes butt scooting could mean worms...or...maybe his anal gland needs to be cleaned...just a thought

YT 3000 Club Member | they will drag their butt when their anal glands need to be emptied as well, is he biting as his butt that is another thing they will do as well. Chester has to go to the vet to get his emptied, little dogs can have this problem. |

| My little guy needs fiber frequently My little guy has a sensitive digestive system, and gets constipated easily. When I mix my own dose of Metamucil with orange juice, he gets a couple tablespoons of the juice in his food dish. He loves a spoonful of applesauce, sliced apples, peaches, bananas, apricots, and most fruits that I eat. He eats green beans, as well. The regular applesauce and his "juice" keep him moving. Just be sure to NEVER give your Yorkie grapes or raisins. They are deadly! |

Although funny to watch sometimes, bum scooting can't be very comfortable for him, or good for the carpet..... poor little guy... | |
