Minksheen has a flea/tick repellent in it, how much I have no idea. I have been using this product for at least 3yrs but also use frontline. I stretch the frontline out to 6wks instead of 4. Honestly, I wouldn't trust just Minksheen to do the job. We live in a highly tick area as well and it's not worth the risk of them getting on him and in our home. He sleeps with me and tick's are not welcome in bed with us

! If the ticks are bad there like they are in New York and Pennsylvania I would be concerned by just using Minksheen. Has your dog had a reaction to Frontline Plus? There was an article recently in my local newspaper regarding a Gov't agency doing a full investigation into all these Flea/Tick meds for dogs/cats. Mostly because they are getting a lot of complaints and most of those complaints are that they don't work. But there are complaints of reactions both minor and severe. With that said, I called my Vet as Sophie was due for her Frontline Plus just 2 days after I read this article. My Vet told me that Frontline will only guarantee product that was bought direct from a Vet or from their company. They will not stand behind the ones bought at other retailers (our pet stores are starting to carry it as is Costco). They claim there is a black market for this product and it's finding it's way into mainstream stores. Now, how much of this is fact, I don't know. So please take this with a grain of salt. However, I bought my last dosage at Costco and chose not to use it. The Vet did recommend that I call Frontline direct and give them the labeling (numbers) off the package and they would be able to determine if it was indeed from their mfg. plants or not. Again, please take this information for what it's worth as I do not intend to slander Frontline Plus or any of the other makers. I further asked my Vet if she felt it was safe to continue to use it based on the new information and she still supports it as long as I follow the guidelines set out by Frontline.

				 | I've been following this thread, since yesterday, hoping that Jake is o.k....I've also been looking for a post about the toxicology reports, and have yet to see them? I sure would like to hear from Abby's mom about these reports....Last I heard, yesterday, was that she was getting them in about an hour...I thought I'd read over all the posts, but am I missing one here? Prayers for Jake, and Jake's Mom for sure!!! I know this is a trying time for the family.... |

I use Minksheen and at the start of the season Roxy had a tick embedded in her leg. It took 2 rounds of antib's for the swelling to go down. The Disease is FAR WORSE than the product We are now using Frontline Plus (1/2 on each) every months. We have had a yard sprayed and my hubby is going to bomb the backyard often

				 | Awww...I love you guys....thanks so much for checking in on my Jake. Sorry it took a while for the update. I'm back at work (thank God for a real keyboard...not my wii remote!)...after being out yesterday, I've had so much catching up at work to do ugh! ....anyway....to let you know, Jake seemed a little better this morning, he actually lifted his head and sat up a couple of times in the car ride to the vet. He did vomit a little though...but he is back there now hooked up to the IV and Tony is to call and check in on him at 3:00 and we will hopefully have him home with us again tonight. ....Last night was funny...well, not for Tony, poor thing...he gets all of these pillows & blankets set up on the floor for he and Jake to sleep so he could keep a close eye on him and his catheter....I was also worried I might toss & turn on him in the bed... . Willow & I curl up in the "big bed" (we all usually sleep in it) and off to sleep we go....in the middle of the night I reach over and I always, I know sounds funny, do an "ear check" to see which baby it is...Jake's are floppy so I always know it's him. I was half asleep and expecting Willow of course, and wouldn't you know it, my little Momma's boy had made his way up the doggy stairs and was sleeping beside me and Willow of course was down on the floor with Dad! ...So I'm hoping, hoping & praying that he will be even stronger today when we pick him up...I will keep you posted. In the meantime, I have read your posts about the Frontline Plus and believe me I do want to comment because I truly believe that has to be the culprit....I am scared to death of the stuff now...

That is three cheers for Jake if you couldn't tell! Aww, what a big lover boy - climbing up into bed to be with you! That is a GREAT sign! Tony gets some brownie points for sticking it out on the floor even though he didn't really need too afterall. I hope and pray Jake continues to get stronger and stronger. I have been thinking about him all day, and I will continue to do so. I'm glad you are at work today, as it will hopefully make the day go faster and that means it will seem sooner your baby gets to be back home with you. Please keep us updated. P.S. Your home computer picked a heck of a time to crap out on you. How rude!

				 | Yipeeee an update. It's wonderful news that Jake had a good night curled up next to his Momma. Smart little guy he is. Wishing him a much better day today after his fix at the vet's. Hopefully he will gain his strength back in a day or two Linda. I would be scared also if Buddy had reacted like that to Frontline. You just never know when using any product how your pup will react. So sorry this happened to Jake. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't Buddy never had a reaction to it so I will continue using it. Have no choice because there is nothing else on the market that I will use. Wishing Jake a speedy and complete recovery. Hugs, |

				 | awww Linda, I'm sooo glad Jake is feeling a little better today, such good news! He is like my Dexter, such a momma's boy, of course he found his way to you last night. I am just thrilled to read your update. Jake is still in my prayers! Frontline makes a spray that you can spray on them, it's for ticks but not for fleas. I am trying to get my holistic store across the street to look into it. If they decide to stock it, they will call me. I really hope they do. I think it would be easier on my Dexter than the Frontline plus. I don't have a flea problem at all.
