| Not an emergency, just not sure where to post this......(spay vs. heat) My 2 girls are scheduled to be spayed 7/23. My older female just started her heat/I noticed bleeding today. Do they not spay during a heat cycle? I remember hearing that, but I have no idea the reason behind it. Also, this will sound silly, do dogs heat cycles sync up like humans can? Should I just put this off? Frustrated.

| Not sure about the syncing. Some vets are willing to spay during heat and you can if you want, however, there is more blood to deal with during this time and the uterus does enlarge. It is more risky. All I can tell you is I would never choose to spay my dog during heat or right after a heat unless it was an emergency. It is best to wait until at least 6 weeks after the last day...

| I called them today after no responses and they said they would do it, but $65 more. I asked if it was safe and they said it is riskier. My girl has addisons and I think that is more than risky enough for me. Thanks for the 6 weeks advise, nobody told me that! I am calling to have it rescheduled Monday.
