stewie is so sick one minute he's playing and fine , i gave him some cut up tbone steak with his food, no bone just steak, and about an hour later he was throwing up over and over again, diareheia, lifeless just laying there , can anyone give me any idea what it might be, LuLu my maltese seems fine |
Idk... poor baby... I would give him nurti cal for sure. And get him to the vet asap. prayers sent your way.. |
Oh no! You really need to take him to an emergency vet. I'm no expert in any way, shape or form, but I'm concerned by your "lifeless" description. I'm wondering about pancreatitis. Maybe?? |
How old is he? Is it always after he eats? Is this new ...how long has he been doing it? I would bring him to the vet.... one of my dogs had pancreatitis and this was what he looked like...another of my dogs has MVD a liver issue and if he ate high protein like steak he would become very sick.... |

It sounds very much like pancreatitis. He needs to see the vet right now. He will probably need an IV. Pancreatitis is life threatening but it can usually be treated. This is an emergency. |
he's 6 months old and this is the first time he has ever been sick, i was thinking maybe it was the steak , lulu seems fine and they both ate it, Stewie vomitted big piles then alot of flem, and some dihereia , then i curled up on the couch with him and wraped him upi n a fur blanket, he is lying quietly, when i got up to get something in the kitchen when i got back he was up on the arm of the couch watching for me, i curled him back up in the blanket and hes sleeping, he hasnt thrown up now for over an hour, and when he hears something he holds his head up and looks around, then puts it back down and rests. I had my son watch him and ran to the pet store to buy nutri cal but they didnt sell it so went to the vets but it was closed. |
and he also head some of the steak last night and was fine last night and all morning, both puppies are up to date with all shots, LuLu got her 16 week shot last week |
I just took him some cold bottled water and he drank it , also looked at what time i posted this message and its been nearly 4 hours since he was sick. |
stewie is now running around acting like his ussual self, i will keep a close eye on him and keep him quiet, he went over to the food but just looked and walked away, should i put a little sugar in the water or anything |
Glad he is better. I cannot give my dogs people food or they get real sick. Sounds like Stewie better stick to dog food. |
It'll be the tbone steak , too rich, my baby can't handle it either same out come vomiting etc and lots of lethargic sleep, if I do feed it I only give a small amount with his normal food |
My vet said never never give a yorkie steak/this is after I went thru a bout with pancreatitis, we almost lost our sammy. Whew, I never want to go thru that again. so, my pups get no steak or human food which is rich. So sorry to hear that your pup is sick, hope he gets well soon. |
no more steak for either one of them, he seems fine now, running , playing , barking, not eating yet but after all the throwing up hes probably to nerves too, i swear there must have been easily over 4 cups of stomach content. He probably dropped a pound and it was only probably an ounce of steak , just a small amount cut up in tiny pieces |
It only takes one bite of the wrong food to cause pancreatitis. Yorkies are very sensitive to grains , greases and other hard to digest foods. Be very careful what you feed him, I would stick to dog food and fruits and veggies. |
Glad to hear that Stewie is doing better. I never give Abby anything but dog food. With my last 2 yorkies, my uncle would sneak them a little "people" food and they got sick and would throw up so I said, NO MORE PEOPLE FOOD!!!! I didn't want them to go through that again. That's just my experience. Others yorkies may do fine with people food. |
