what about yogurt, i read that was good, I will stay away from steak but should i stay away from chicken too, what about raw marrow bones from the grocery store are they a no too, and liver i have given them that before , always in small portions but should i not give liver too, i feed them royal canin but they never get to excited about there dog food.

Yogurt is fine chicken, liver fine as long as you don't cook them in grease. Things like peeled apple, peas, carrots(not the ones that look like baby carrots) they are full of chlorine,broccoli , cauliflower, green beans all ok. Stay away from greasy anything. You can give digestive enzymes with food, also canned pumpkin they love it and it's healthy for them. Not sure what the marrow bones are so can't answer that one.

yeah i have been peeling carrots i read about the baby carrots in chlorine to keep them orange, what about cheese slices , just like a quarter of a cheese slice? or cheddar cheese

Small amts of cheese are ok if you need to hide a pill in it, but not on a regular basis, Cheese is greasy and fattening, that's the kind of thing you want to avoid.

yep 100% agree with this as tbone is a fatty steak :( and pancreatitis is more to do with fatty foods. Also if not vomitting over and over and tossing and turning acting like in pain then most likely not pancreatitis but could be mvd or liver shunt -- i would get full blood panel and cpli snap shot in house as a good vet will have this now and faster results than sending to lab on cpli as that takes about 3-4 days to get results. Then if not pancreatitis and ALT is high i would do pre and post bile acid tests. What is protein % of what you normally feed?

I pill my dog with organic chicken breast and use that as a treat it is safe-- i cook up a chicken breast every 3 days on 350 for 40 min and get it from costco - i cut a little piece and put the pill in and works like a charm - they love it -- i almost lost my dex to pancreatitis and cost me 10k to save him over a year of battling that and ibd so no fatty foods for mine ever after this

liver is not fine if the dog has mvd or liver shunt as it is too high in vitamin A.

yogurt --- goat yogurt is closest to their mothers milk. Yogurt many dogs are lactose intolerant so they can have diarhea from this so just depends on the dog. I do probiotics but use non dairy dds plus.

add a little organic chicken to the dog food and you can add some low sodium chicken broth organic from whole foods -- i buy the big jug and freeze in ice cube trays and keep in baggy in the freezer -- i do the same thing for pumpkin as well if they have diarhea i pull a piece out and defrost. I do this with pineapple as well so if they poop eat out comes the pineapple. If dog has kidney issues i would not do the broth -It adds a little flavor to kibble

for small dogs only organic meats

bone marrow concerns me as we went to two board certified dentist and they said dogs can break their teeth on those things :( also a client of mine's dog burried one then dug it up and many owners let their dogs do this and chewed on it and got a horrible bacteria infection so be careful and wash it when done and let air dry if you want to do this but i personally wouldn't bc if they are heavy chewers they could break a tooth

Pancreatitis (Inflammation) in Dogs

here is some info on pancreatitis sounds like you dodged a bullet :) i have 3 dogs and all ate the same things and only dex got real sick. Next time they do blood make sure they do triglycerides on that panel on a 12 hr fast as i always do blood work on 12 fast just like they do in humans - if the triglycerides are high like my dex the dog is more prone to pancreatitis as the blood already has a high amount of fat content naturally so just takes a little to put them over the edge.

Pancreatitis is very expensive to treat and 50% or more of dogs die from it and yorkies are very prone to this so stay very low fat as you had a warning sign with this so it will be very easy for your dog to get this.

I would also just to be safe get pre and post bile acid test on him as it is also a sign of an issue with the liver as well as a high protein meal can make them sick and so i would want to rule out liver disease since yorkies are 38 more times likely to have liver disease so you need to rule this out before any medications in future. It is an easy test and our vet bile acids all yorkies and maltese prior to any meds since it is so common in the breeds

Good Job Debbie, I Totally agree. Has she been back to get all this info? I hope she gets all of it. I was gearing towards pancreatitis , didn't think about liver shunt. I hope that's not what it is.
