| Trixie is sick and we don't know what's wrong My Trixie has been sick since last Friday. She is very listless and will just lay in her bed in the same position just looking around once in a while just with her eyes. I took her to the vet on Monday and he gave her 2 pockets of fluids under her skin on her back (like bubbles) an x-ray of her belly and a shot of antibiotics. She had a 105 fever and still has a fever now. Her white blood count was high so we know she has an infection but we don't know where. The vet sent me to a specialist and they did an ultrasound of her abdomin and everything looks fine. Her blood work showed a slight elevation of her pancreas but not enough for the vet to call it pancreatitis. I just can't get anything into her. Yesterday she ate about 1/2 jar of babyfood. The doctor gave me new antibiotics and 3 cans of prescription dog food he said she would definatly eat...not!!! I can't get her medicine into her. I think she will have to go in again today maybe for more fluid pockets, and a shot of antibiotics. She is only 9mo old and weighs 10.6. She lost 1/2 pound since Monday. I am very concerned and so is the vet. He is confering with the specialist as to the next coarse of action. In the mean time my poor baby is having all of these tests and it is costing me a fortune. I feel so bad for her. My daughter slept with her last night holding her paw. I don't know what is wrong.

| Boil lean chicken breast in alittle water. Once cooked, take chicken out and strain the water, saving the chicken broth. Cook rice, and shred the chicken to mix with the rice, poor 1 teaspoon of chicken broth into the mixture, heat for about 10 seconds and serve. She should think it is yummy |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Reese was very ill last this last December. The antibiotics can cause them to be anorexic. They can give you something to increase her appetite. I'd also ask about reducing her fever...that's the cause of her lethargy and can also be another reason she won't eat. Reese received three iv of fluids in one week...he also lost a pound in 4 days. We never received an actual diagnosis...because they simply could not figure out what was wrong with him. At the end of a week...he was given a barium x ray...which found nothing...but apparently eradicated whatever bug he had. The latter the vet concurred... Sending prayers for her. I completely understand how scarey it is.

| I had grilled chicken strips in the freezer and I cooked them she won't touch it. My other two are going crazy because they want to eat it it smells so good. The only thing she would eat was yeaterday the vegetable chicken baby food but now she won't touch it. Yesterday all she had was that 1/2 jar and nothing today at all. She has been lapping up a teenie bit of water from a spoon. Should I try pedialite I feel if she is only taking a few laps of it I might as well give her something with electrolites in it. I'm at a loss. How can I raise 4 children 19,18,14,10 and I can't figure out what is wrong with my baby girlie. I use Sachem animal hospital then yesterday I went to Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in West Islip. My doctor is confering with the internist there.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Since it's been 3 days since she received the fluids...with that high a fever...it's likely she's dehydrated and needs more. Reese got these almost every other day for a week and I was desperately trying to keep him hydrated by forcing fluids via a syringe. Touch her gums...do they feel tacky? Lift her skin and release...does it go back immediately or is it slower. I really urge you to take her back in for another round...dehydration does not take long and it can be fatal in itself. Btw, I offered ALL the good stuff...he wouldn't touch it and I mean foods he would gobble in 2 secs if he wasn't sick.

| Thanks for the advice. I thought I lost her the other night. She was laying there and I picked her up to take her outside and her little head just kind of flopped over and she peed all over me. I thought she was gone. Her gums were white as snow I immediatly gave her nutrical and some sips of water. She looked better and was alert. Still she is not the same Trix. She wanted to go on the couch about 9:30 this morning and she is still there in the same position. My 18 yr old came in the kitchen for breakfast and the babies normally crowd around her because she will give them a few pieces of cereal ...well the 2 nuts were there but Trixie didn't budge she didn't even pick up her head. I am going to call the vet right now.

| I just tried to give her some water..she took some of it. Then I tried the food again. I put a little peanut butter in it....no she just hid her head. Well my 14 yr old who held her hand and slept with her came up and tried to give her some food .....don't you know that little rat ate some from my daughter. She put a little water in it so she was just kind of lapping it a little. But she feels awfully warm to me. She did urinate this morning but hasn't pooped since Monday night.
