| 1 yr. old sick yorkie I got a yorkie about 5 weeks ago. He is a 4.5 lb, 1 year old and came with a bill of health from the vet. I also got him checked at my vet and they said he was healthy. He seems like a sick dog to me! After getting neutered he got colitis which was treated with antibiotics. He was good for a while after that, and now seems sick again. For the past 3 days he has thrown up and had diarreah, but only about once a day. He continues to eat and drink though and gets sickest at night. Yesterday he was very tired and slept most of the day. This morning he threw up again and had diarrhea, but he has his energy back and looks happy. Should I be worried? He was just at the vet 2 weeks ago and had his stools checked and was fine. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ima...ser_online.gif http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ima...ons/report.gif http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ima...tons/quote.gif |

My furkids Donating Member | He needs to go back to the vets!! If he has had diarrhea and vomiting for 3 days and only 4 1/2 lbs he is going to get dehydrated...I would call your vet as soon as he opens tomorrow

| I second that! He is definitely sick.. poor baby. If the vet disagrees, I would take him to a different vet.

| Ollie went to the vet yesterday and got some fluids and a few meds to take for the next week. We are also trying probiotics sprinkled on his food (which is only hamburg and rice for now). Unfortunately his previous owner was feeding him Eukanuba and that is all he would eat when I got him, but I am trying to switch him slowly to Wellness. The vet is hoping that this is only an imbalance of a bacteria, or still stress from getting neutered. We are crossing our fingers that he does not have Inflammatory Bowel Disease. |

| sick yorkie baby Hello, It seems I have sent so many emails regarding my yorkie's health on here as well...I am the proud mommy of 2 yorkies, Fiona (3) and Cooper (2). Ever since I brought Fiona home at 2months old, she has had stomach problems, diarrhea and vomiting. My boyfriend and I had changed everything, yummies, treats, daily routines...everything but her food. The vet said to give her cottage cheese, yogurt, rice, bland meat...you name it We did some research recently and found California Natural, a food that apparently that is the best for Yorkies because of their sensitive GI systems. It has been a few weeks now and she is great. It even increased her energy...and SHE LOVES IT. She has been eating a ton, so we need to slow her down a bit. California Natural comes in lots of flavors, and even treats. I had never heard of it until recently. No diarrhea, No vomiting, No bloating. We had to find a special pet store in our area that sold it (you can go on the website and find a store near you that sells it). A bag only costs about $10. The bag of treats about $7. Maybe try switching her food, it is worth a shot. It took us 3 years of vet bills and frustration to finally find something that works..and our other dog LOVES it also. Hope this helps, and I hope your baby feels better ~Shannon |

| Poor little guy. Just sending you good wishes and hope he's better soon. I would be switching vet's. Bud was sick with the samething thing for 4mos and I changed vet's. Kept telling me it was the food. It turned out to be a male parasite in his intestines. They do not produce eggs so there's nothing to see in the stool sample. New vet took a chance and wormed him and problem solved. I know it's a longshot but just thought I would tell you. Good luck honey, |

| Glad to hear that you took him to the vet. Hopefully, once he's cured of his diarrhea and vomiting you can eventually switch him off of eukanuba slowly.

| So Ollie was doing better since the vet visit and he is still taking his antibiotics. But, now it has been 3 whole days since he pooped! I'm sure this is a side effect from the meds, but how long can this last? I gave him some pure pumpkin last night and again this morning, but now he won't even go outside because it's raining. What should I do? |
