is my 4 week old sick??? My yorkie had 3 pups, 1 big, 1 small, 1 very small (runt). The very small one always had wet eyes in corners, and dry nose. She doesn't eat as much as other 2, but we make sure she gets enough. The past two days she sleeps more, but isn't eating as much. Is as active as she has been though. I'm thinking this may be normal for a runt, but should I be giving her anything extra. Second vet visit isn't until 2 more weeks...any advice? Last edited by haleycro; 04-19-2009 at 11:38 AM.

Is she gaining weight? As long as she is gaining (even very slowly) she is probably fine

You have to remember, the warm nose is an old wives tale. I thought my yorkie was running a fever(she's had allergies). For the last month her nose is always warm and dry, but, when I took her to the vet the other day, no fever, just allergies. Yes, I agree with the above poster, keep an eye on her weight, as long as she's playing and gaining weight, she should be okay. If she has lost weight, I would get her in to the vet tomorrow and get her checked out. If nothing else, it will ease your mind

She needs to be gaining weight not loosing, Keep her warm and if you have to supplement, feed her puppy goat milk from Petsmart about 2 cc every 2 to 3 hours. and also let her nurse with mom. She needs to be warm when eating. You need to watch her because you could loose her very fast. Stay with her and let us know..
