| Chase is sick! Last night around 3am, Chase started vomiting several (at least 15) times until there was just yellow foamy bile. After an hour or so (and frantic calls to the 24 hour animal hospitals), he was finally able to settle down go back to sleep. In the morning, he seemed completely fine but I had my boyfriend take him to the vet. They were concerend that he might have swallowed a foreign object. I came home from work to monitor him for the day. He had fluids administered and a famotidine injection. The instructions written are: Please withold food/water for next 10-12 hours. If he does not vomit by this evening, offer him some boiled chicken and rice along with a small bowl of water. If he continues to do well switch him back to regular diet. If he continues to vomit, please bring him back for x-rays. I'm so worried! Has anyone else experienced this? What are the symptoms when a dog swallows an object?

| Yes. My cocker spaniel swallowed a penny once. I would ask your vet for x-rays now. I know there is a cost involved, but I would be willing to pay for it for peace of mind! I saw her swallow it but I couldn't get to her fast enough. She threw up bile...stomach acids...a few times, but never threw up the penny. So I took her to the vet where they did x-rays to see where in her system the penny actually was and it was still in her stomach. It was staying there because the acids in the stomach were not breaking it up enough to pass through her digestive system. She acted fine after she threw up a few times, but we knew we had to get it out of there. It took a whole week for her to pass it! (and yes I had to check her poo every time she went!) She was ok and didn't have to have surgery to get it out thankfully! Personally, I would ask for x-rays today if possible just to see if there is anything. I would definately go with the bland diet until you know exactly what is going on inside there if you don't get the x-rays. Keep a good eye on him and if you can, monitor his bowel movements to see if he does pass anything unusual. I hope this has helped, please keep me informed on how your little guys does! Get well soon!!

| I just fed him some chicken and rice, which he was thrilled to eat. He took a long nap in the morning, but was playful and normal otherwise. I'm going to monitor him for the next couple of days and see if any more vomiting occurs, if it does I will definitely take him in for the x-ray. The x-ray will cost $300 , but I would get it if Chase needed it. Thanks for the encouragement and advice.

| Yeah, isn't it nuts? The check up this morning along with fluids and shot was $170. Chase is going to put me in the poorhouse . A further update: The vet called to check in on us and I told her he was doing well. No vomiting, enjoyed eating his dinner. She didn't think the x-ray was necessary at this point, but if any vomiting occurs during the night she wants me to come in right way. Chase must have thrown up whatever was bothering him. He'll be on a chicken and rice diet for the next couple of days and I'm sure that'll make him happy .

| My sister's Cairn Terrier ate her Birkenstock sandal. The sandal had three leather straps and buckles. She came home from work and found the chewed sandal. She called the vet and he said to watch the dog and check the stools to see if the straps and buckles pass. During the next few days the dog ate normally and didn't throw up his food but he did throw up yellow foam all the time. He didn't pass any part of the sandal yet he was pooping normally. After a few days the dog was x-rayed and the straps and buckles were just sitting in the bottom of the stomach. The dog had to have $2000 surgery to remove the straps with the buckles still attached from his stomach. The vet did check all his intestines to make sure nothing had passed through and got stuck. The surgery was a success and he is a happy little boy again.

| I am glad he is doing better. Once he goes back to his normal food, he is going to be super pissed! haha! Don't you just LOVE cooking for your baby? haha! I am glad he is happy today and keep us informed! Maybe he ate a little bug or something that made him throw up and you didn't even notice it in his throw up??
