| I have horrible memories of Parvo as a child, one of which was coming home from school on my 11th birthday and finding my Sheperd/St Bernard mix "Baby" gone from that dreaded disease. One of the worst sights I've ever seen in my life. Fortunately, THANK GOD, there is so much more they can do to save them now and many are more are aware of the warning signs, since time is so important. We had no clue.... Macy is in wonderful hands and I am praying she returns home to you soon, so you can give her the spoiling she deserves. She'll be in my prayers!

There is no way of knowing what germs have been brought into that store. I really cringe when I see anyone with a puppy inside there.

My sister's vet said taking your dog to Petsmart was like letting your child play on the floor of a public bathroom. | |

| Good way to put it I guess. For me I knew bringing them somewhere like that was bad until fully vaccinated but I thought it was okay. It never seemed wrong. Their sign states no dogs allowed in PetsMart except those fully vaccinated. But apparently there are so many who don't see this or don't care. If anyone saw my post about a month back, my cousin is staying with me temporarily and brought home a stray dog...yup a stray around puppies! It cause a lot of issues and I told her it had to go. I'm all for rescuing dogs, but this was just inappropriate. The dog stayed for a week but was separated from our dogs and she cleaned up all messes it made outside. A part of me can't help but wonder if this was the reason. I guess it doesn't matter. My main concern is Macy's health now. She's just the sweetest girl. I can't wait to have her home.

| Oh and here's a pick I took of Macy when taking her from emergency to the regular vet. Sorry they're just from my cell phone so they don't come in very well. I was SOOO happy to see her.

| In regards to the earlier comment that stated vets 'around here' start vaccines at 6 weeks. Sadly, that IS very accurate. However, some of us 'around here' use our brains and decide otherwise instead of just going along with the standard vet protocol and wait until pups are older to have their vaccines administered. Just because a vet will do them that early and some recommend it, doesn't mean you have to adhere to it. ![]() Quote:

| If your dog got tested for parvo and it came out negative, does that mean that the puppy will never get the virus? |

| no, it just means that the puppy did not have the parvo virus at the time of the parvo test. If not vaccinated well and exposed after the test, the puppy could then become infected and then test positive on a parvo test

| I was speaking to my vet the other day about this, some vets say 3 shots complete a series and some say 4, he goes with 4. |
